Let's start the year right and SOAR to great choices
Plenty of Rest
As we get back into routine for the school year, it is vital that our kiddos get enough rest. We encourage you to have a scheduled bedtime each night, and aim to ensure students get at least eight hours of sleep each night
Attendance Information
We know students may miss school for illness, emergencies, or for religious reasons, but we want to see every student in school every day. Regular school attendance is an important factor in student success at Berkeley County Schools.
If a student must miss school, for one or more days, the student must submit an excuse from his/her parent or guardian stating the reason for the absence in order to receive an excused absences.
Communication via Seesaw
If you are not connected to Seesaw please be sure to connect ASAP. Seesaw is an awesome resource. Parents and teachers can communicate easily through messaging. Families will also stay informed of events and important information from the school. Use the provided link to connect today!!
In the Know...
- As we start the school year we will complete drills to practice expectations. Check in with your child about following staff direction.
- As students are still learning routines and procedures, take the time to check in with your child. Review rules and expectations of the school building.
- Join our PTO. Our awesome PTO has many engaging events. We would love to have you join. There is only a $5 member fee.
- Please communicate with your childโs teacher if there are issues within the classroom. Administration will support and communicate as needed.
PBIS - Positive Encouragement
What is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports??
(PBIS) is a positive reinforcement system that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral competence of all students. Students are being introduced to classroom//school expectations and rules. As we move forward, students may receive yellow owl cards for great choices and red owls for reminders. We will have a school store, where students are able to purchase cool items with the yellow owls. We are so excited to implement this new program.
We hope that great choices will be encouraged at home also.
Title I Tip
Practice reading with your child each night. If your child is a beginning reader, take turns reading or allow your child to listen to you read. These routines will help your child be a better read.
