Evergreen Elementary School
Welcome to our English Language Development Program!
Dear Families,
Welcome to Evergreen Elementary School's English Language Development (ELD) Program. I am Megan Brown, the Elementary Learning Specialist and ELD Liaison at Evergreen. My teaching career began in Northern California, where I taught full-day Kindergarten for a few years. During this time, I developed a passion for reading instruction, strengthening student number sense, developing language acquisition skills, and instilling a growth mindset. Later, I moved to the Walnut Valley Unified School District, where I taught first and third grades and provided targeted assistance as the Title 1 Specialist.
With your child's classroom teacher, we are honored to meet students' individual learning needs in English language acquisition. We will support, monitor, cheer, and celebrate your child as they persevere through challenging tasks. Our ultimate goal is for students to feel accepted, comfortable, and capable.
I am also excited to share that I am expecting a baby boy and will be taking maternity leave from the end of September through early March. During this time, Sarah Lee will serve as the interim Elementary Learning Specialist (ELS). Mrs. Lee brings wonderful experience and dedication to supporting our English learners, and I am confident she will provide excellent continuity of services for your children. You will have the opportunity to meet Mrs. Lee at our first ELAC meeting, and please feel free to reach out to her with any questions or concerns during my absence.
Throughout this transition, we remain committed to establishing positive relationships, communication, and collaboration between home and school. Parents and guardians are vital partners in their child's education. Therefore, we warmly invite you to attend our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Meeting on September 18th at 8:15 in our school's Multipurpose Room. This meeting will provide essential information about the programs offered to our English learners and an opportunity for you to share your insights. Please see the invitation below, and we look forward to seeing you there!
Warmly,
Mrs. Brown, M. Ed.

Mrs. Lee
Mrs. Sarah Lee brings seven years of teaching experience to our ELD program. Born and raised in Santa Clarita, Southern California, she earned her BA in Liberal Studies Elementary Education from Biola University and has taught TK-1st and 5th grades. Mrs. Lee recently got married and enjoys exploring her newfound hobby of cooking and taking evening strolls with her husband. When she's not in the classroom, you can find her reading books, spending quality time with friends over good boba, or cuddling with her dog Bailey. She is excited to support our English learners and work alongside families during this important time.
Mrs. Wang
Our team includes Mrs. Susie Wang, our dedicated Bilingual Aide who is in her fourth year at Evergreen. Prior to joining us, Mrs. Wang worked as a National Tutor at Pasadena City College and brings valuable corporate office experience that provides her with a diverse perspective.
