A Low-Stakes Public-Speaking Game for High School Students
When students have public speaking opportunities in the classroom—discussions, presentations, etc.—they find themselves in the unenviable position of trying to exhibit all the facets of effective public speaking while also being knowledgeable and insightful, all for a grade. For some students, this is no problem at all. Some students thrive on the opportunity to take the spotlight, but others do not. For some students, these moments where it feels like everyone is watching, listening, and judging can be incredibly overwhelming. By offering a quick, low-pressure way to practice, teachers can help students build their confidence and poise when talking in front of the class.
Flipped Classroom Pioneer Offers New AI Framework
Back in 2007 Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams pioneered what is now known as flipped learning. Today, Bergmann, who remains a high school science teacher in addition to being a recognized education expert, says a new teaching paradigm is underway because of the emergence of AI.
To that, Bergmann has developed a new teaching framework that combines flipped learning and mastery learning models with the modern realities of AI. He calls it The Mastery Flip, and its three pillars are designed to maximize the beneficial impact of AI while minimizing its harms and preparing students to harness this technology for the future.

Mental Health Literacy Curriculum from NAMI
Mental health literacy is especially important for young people -- when we’re equipped with information and knowledge, we know when to ask for help and how to get it. Mental health literacy teaches how to foster and maintain positive mental health, common mental health conditions and their treatments, how to seek help effectively, and what mental health stigma is and how to reduce it. The mental health curriculum FLARE by the National Alliance on Mental Illlness empowers individuals and communities to support mental health care proactively.
This study examines the effect of participation in a SSR program on reading attitudes and reading achievement of students as measured by the Adolescent Motivation to Read Profile (AMRP) and the Northwest Evaluation Association Measure of Academic Progress (NWEA MAP or MAP). Students' attitude towards reading did not show a significant change. Reading growth, however, was significant compared to the control group. Although students' value of reading basically remained the same, SSR may have contributed to their expansion of background knowledge, gave them time to practice reading skills and strategies, and helped develop reading stamina which is necessary in reading longer or several passages in one sitting.

Prep for the SAT with practice tests in Gemini
To support high school and college prep students, Google is launching practice tests in Gemini: full-length, on-demand practice exams available at no cost. Available now, practice tests support the SAT to start, with more tests coming in the future. To ensure they prepare students for the actual exam, they have grounded practice tests in rigorously vetted content from leading education companies like The Princeton Review, to build a best in class experience for learners coming to Gemini. This helps ensure that students are not just practicing — they're preparing with material that more closely resembles what they'll see on test day.
