Greta Knuth

Greta plans to attend the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and major in Anthropology. “4-H has been one of the most important parts of my life. Being involved in many different areas, cattle, goats, dogs, crafts, food sale etc., has allowed me to meet a variety of people. I have always felt that the organization and the people in it are always there to support and push me to be the most authentic version of myself.”

Khale Lindiman

Khale Lindiman

Khale plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Kearney to major in biology and pre-dental studies. “I joined 4-H as a Clover Kid. Throughout the years, activities and projects provided the opportunity to work with peers and adults. I gained confidence, learned basic life skills and perseverance to complete projects. Thanks to the 4-H staff and volunteers for providing opportunities to ‘Learn by Doing’."

Eva Lindiman

Eva Lindiman

Eva’s future plans are to become a teacher as she attends Central Community College in Grand Island this fall. “Through my involvement in 4-H, I have gained life skills, met new people, gained self-confidence, developed leadership skills and participated in a variety of community service projects. I appreciate the 4-H staff and my Club leader, Crystal, for providing guidance and support throughout my years as a 4-H member.”

Peyton Allan
zoom_out_map

Peyton Allan

Peyton plans to attend Wayne State College to pursue a degree in nursing. “These past 11 years, 4-H has helped me grow as a person, leader, and community member. By serving as a junior superintendent at the fair, president and secretary of my 4-H club, I have learned many leadership skills. 4-H has allowed me to give back to my community with service opportunities, such as trash pick-ups, Little Feet on the Farm, and setting up at the Hall County Fair. I have gained life-long friendships by being involved in different 4-H activities and fair projects. Overall, 4-H has helped me learn my interests by stepping out of my comfort zone, learn leadership qualities that will help me in my future career, given me new opportunities to give back to my community, and allowed me to gain many new friendships.”

Tyler Collins
zoom_out_map

Tyler Collins

Tyler plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Kearney to study Industrial Distribution. “4-H taught me many things, nothing more important than responsibility. Waking up early and going to bed late to feed and care for my livestock took great commitment. Spending several hours every morning and night to be competitive and provide appropriate care for the animals wasn’t always easy, especially when my friends were all hanging out while I was feeding, exercising and training show animals. Without a doubt the best thing 4-H taught me was responsibility. My best 4-H memory in the ring was winning the Champion Round Robin buckle at the Hall County Fair in my first year of eligibility. I have had several animals win at the fair, but this award was solely based on my showmanship ability over 5 different species.”

Anna Hanquist
zoom_out_map

Anna Hanquist

Anna plans to pursue a career in the medical field after graduation by earning her CNA certification and then continuing her education to become either an anesthesiologist or a nurse who specializes in caring for newborns. “My experience in 4-H has played a significant role in shaping who I am today. Through 4-H, I have learned the importance of discipline, responsibility, and hard work. Being successful requires consistent effort, patience, and a strong commitment, especially when working with animals. I have also learned how important it is to build trust and a strong bond with my animal, which takes time and dedication. These experiences have helped prepare me for my future goals and taught me valuable life skills I will carry with me.”

Turner Happold

Turner Happold

Turner plans to attend Southeast Community College in Beatrice, NE to study Ag Management and Production while team roping on the rodeo team, with the future goal of becoming a farm and ranch manager. He plans to continue breeding and training professional rope horses. “4-H has given me confidence, leadership skills, and a second family. From showing at the county fair to leading community service projects, every experience has shaped who I am and who I hope to become.”

Hall County 4-H - County Fair Schedule Changes!

Exciting news! A few thoughtful tweaks have been made to the 4-H show schedule for the 2026 Hall County Fair. Thank you to our superintendents for carefully reviewing the survey feedback and evaluating schedule suggestions with great care and precision. A big thank-you as well to the 4-H Council and fair board for taking the steps needed to approve these updates. And finally, thank you to our 4-H families for taking the time to share your thoughts—your feedback was invaluable! We were thrilled to hear that, overall, families feel the 4-H Fair schedule is of purple ribbon quality.

Based on that input, the following schedule adjustments will be made for the 2026 Hall County Fair:

What is a Static Exhibit?

At fair time, you will often read or hear office staff talking about STATIC exhibits. A static exhibit is any exhibit that isn’t alive (doesn’t breathe and/or walk). They are stationary. We are usually referring to exhibits in the exhibit hall: posters, home design exhibits like wall hangings, food, flowers, child development exhibits, woodworking, Summer Activity exhibits, and more! (Animals are not static exhibits.)

For State Horse Show competition, the Extension office needs proof of completion by June 1.

Reminder: 4-H members enrolled in the Hall County 4-H Horse project may share a horse. Each member must complete a horse ID sheet, and all members sharing the horse must be listed on each ID sheet. 4-H members sharing a horse cannot ride the same horse in the same class, regardless of age division. (Example: Member A can ride horse X in the Intermediate Western Pleasure class. Member B can ride horse X in the Junior Horsemanship class, but not in the Junior Western Pleasure class.)

Dog, Cat & Small Pet Shows

Cats, hamsters, fish, snakes, toads, dogs, and mini pigs, Oh MY!

When you think of 4-H, do you picture kids showing cattle, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry? Did you know you can show your dog, cat, and ANY animal you consider a pet? Any animal not housed in the Cattle Barn during the Hall County Fair (except pet rabbits) can be shown in one of the following two shows.

  • The Dog Show will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, in the Five Point Bank Arena at 8:30 am. *Note new time.
  • The Cat and Small Pet Show will be held in the Aurora Coop Pavilion on Friday, July 24th at 12:15 pm.

These two programs are a great way to share the hard work that goes into caring for your family’s pets. Check the Hall County Fair Book for specifics of each show. (Vaccinations are required for dogs and cats.) If you have questions, please contact LaDonna at 308-385-5088.

Fair Reminders for Small Animals

Dog, cat & ferret vaccination forms (signed by a vet) must be on file at the Extension Office by June 15th to show at the Hall County Fair. Vaccination forms can be found here: extension.unl.edu/statewide/hall/hall-county-4-h/hall-county-fair/.

Community Service Opportunity

Are you looking for a meaningful and unique community service project for your family or 4-H club? Our local Orphan Grain Train branch in the Grand Island area has reached out to 4-H for help with a variety of special projects that make a real difference.

Orphan Grain Train serves individuals and families experiencing poverty around the world—many who struggle to afford basic necessities like clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies. This is a wonderful opportunity for 4-H members to use their hands and hearts to help others.

There are many ways to get involved! Projects include assembling school kits, hygiene kits, and teacher kits, sewing flannel diapers or pillowcase dresses, or even crocheting sleeping mats from plastic grocery bags. Directions and patterns for all projects can be found here: https://www.ogt.org/special-projects/.

If you have questions about Orphan Grain Train or these service opportunities, please contact Joni Schlatz at 308-380-7502.
