Mid-March 2026 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Dear Allenwood Elementary School Families,
Can you believe that we are already in the month of March? The year is flying by! As the saying goes, March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. With our unpredictable weather, please be sure to send your child to school with a coat each day. We are going to try to have students outside for recess as much as possible. Also, please take a moment to write your child’s name on the inside tag of their coat. If it is forgotten on the playground, this helps us quickly return it to its owner.
We have an exciting month ahead! Please mark your calendars for the following important events:
-
Week of March 16: Penny Wars
-
March 17: Spirit Day – Wear Green
-
March 19: PTG Meeting
-
March 20: Rock Your Socks – World Down Syndrome Day
-
March 23: School Closed for Students – Staff In-Service Day
-
March 23–27: Neurodiversity Week
-
March 30 & 31: PTG Snack Cart Days
-
March 30 & 31: Teacher-Selected Conferences – Students will be dismissed at 1:05 p.m.
One quick reminder: Please remember that Pick Up Patrol is only being used for changes to your child's dismissal plan. If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the main office at 732-556-2150, or email Donna Taub dtaub@wallpublicschools.org to report the absence.
We look forward to a month filled with learning, school spirit, and community-building activities. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a wonderful place for all students to grow and thrive.
With Dragon Pride,
James Sterenczak

WTPS Appoints Dr. David Bleakley as New Superintendent of Schools
As you are aware, Dr. Handerhan announced back in the fall that she will be retiring at the end of this school year. Since then, the Wall Township Board of Education has been actively engaged in the search for a new Superintendent of Schools. At last night’s Board of Education Meeting, the Board of Education appointed Dr. David Bleakley as the next WTPS Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Bleakley brings with him over 20 years of educational experience, and the Board of Education is thrilled to welcome him to the District.
