Greetings!
Dear Families,
Wow! What a great few weeks! Fueled by turkey and rest, we have done some great learning and had a lot of fun! We trust that you all enjoyed some Family time over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Recently, approximately 36 runners went to race at Fort Henry with Mdm. Shelley & Mrs. Sheriff. They had a chilly but great day of racing with 9 runners qualifying for District level competition. The spirit of perseverance and dedication was evident on the faces of our Central Bears. Way to Go! We celebrated their success with donuts and a celebration "run" through our school cheered by all classmates.
Our district runners represented our school in the District Cross Country meet this week. It was amazing to see the progress of all of our runners throughout the season. Many students achieved personal bests and their resilience is inspiring.
As the weather is starting to change, we want to remind all families that we do go outside for 2 recess breaks during the day, rain or shine. Unless it is raining heavily, we go outside to get some fresh air and play. Having layers, rain boots and a rain jacket help to keep students comfortable while outdoors.
We saw lots of "smiles" for picture day and look forward to seeing the photos. Ordering for individual photos is completed online with Edge Imaging photography, they will email link once photos are ready for ordering. Class photos and retakes are scheduled for 20th November.
Ms. Campeau & Mr. Cotton's class continued their scientific learning with a trip to Spring Meadow's apple orchard last week. They participated in lots of new adventures and hands on learning that helped to solidify in class discoveries, while out on the land.
We are pleased to share our school's results from the recent EQAO assessments, written last spring by our Grade 3 and Grade 6 students. The data from these assessments helps us identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. We are committed to using these insights to enhance our educational practices. More detail, including an interactive data dashboard can be found at www.eqao.com Individualized achievement reports for Grade 3 and Grade 6 students who participated will be sent home this week.
Staffing update-We welcome Ms. Aleisha Lees to our kindergarten class as the permanent Early Childhood Educator working alongside Ms. Blackett.
Our upcoming SAC meeting will take place in the staff room on 21st October @5:30 pm. Baby sitting available. Pizza will be served. Drop in to find out about upcoming fundraising and initiatives. We thank all our SAC members for their time and volunteerism.
The upcoming weeks look just as packed with many more great learning opportunities on the horizon including Gould Lake trip, Molly Brant culinary classes and volleyball practices, make sure to keep checking School-Day for event notifications. We can't wait for the week to come.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Barrett & Mx. Allport

Personal items at school
What Do I Need To Bring? What Should Stay At Home?
All school supplies that students need for their learning and work will be provided by Central Public School. Sometimes students prefer to have their own pencil case with pencils/markers, but it is not a requirement.
Students do need to come to school with:
- Indoor, non-marking athletic type of shoes
- Water bottle (we have bottle filling stations, not fountains)
- Nut-free snacks and lunch
Please label all items!
- items of value (sentimental or monetary)
- any kind of weapon (for example, a Swiss Army knife)
- any kind of toy that could be a replica weapon (for example, a toy gun or sword)
- anything scented
- toys and stuffies
Thank you for keeping these items at home. Sometimes a quick check of a backpack can ensure that treasures do not come to school. Thank you for understanding that we are not responsible for lost, broken or stolen personal items.
