Life skills include the mindsets, actions, attitudes, and feelings that help students succeed in school, career, and life. The Panorama surveys ask students about these life skills, teaching, relationships, belonging, school experiences, and beliefs on how well the school supports student learning.

At the early elementary grades, teachers of students in grades K-2 are asked to complete checklists to assess their students’ perseverance, how well they believe they are able to manage their own actions and emotions, social awareness, and engagement.

Students in grades 3-8 are asked to reflect on topics that address perseverance, growth mindset, self-management, social awareness, emotion regulation, supportive relationships, sense of belonging, and teacher-student relationships.

Students in grades 9-12 are asked to reflect on topics that address supportive relationships, sense of belonging, teacher-student relationships, and diversity and inclusion.

Near the end of the survey, students in grades 3-12 are asked "What can teachers or other adults at school do to better help you?"

You can view ample version of the surveys at the following links: Grades K-2 Teacher Perception | Grades 3-5 | Grades 6-8 | Grades 9-12

Why are these surveys administered? Why are these surveys administered?

Building students’ life skills and increasing student belonging is important at P-CCS. These skills have been found to be very important in preparing students for long-term academic, career, and life success. Research has also demonstrated that having welcoming school environments enhances student sense of belonging and is linked to increased student engagement and improved academic performance.

This is an opportunity for students to have their voices heard and share their thoughts on how school supports them individually and how their experiences can be improved. Their responses provide building and district leaders valuable insights into their school experiences. If you have any questions about how the student survey is used in your building, please contact your building principal.

Who participates? Who participates?

Teachers of students in grades K-2 and students in grades 3-12. The surveys take about 10-20 minutes, depending on the grade level.

At any time during the survey, if a student does not feel like they have enough information or does not feel comfortable responding to a question, they are free to skip any item. Individual responses to these surveys remain confidential. To learn about how Panorama protects student data, see the Privacy, Safety, and Trust at Panorama Education button below.

When are these surveys administered? When are these surveys administered?

At P-CCS we collect this information in October and March. Specific administration dates are determined by each school.
