Section Champs; Boys Hockey Team Advances to the State Tournament!
NHS Boys Hockey punched their ticket to the state tournament for the third year in a row with a 2-0 win over Rochester Lourdes on Wednesday night. Congratulations to our Big 9 and Section 1A Champs.
The team has qualified for the state tournament beginning next Wednesday, March 5, at the Xcel Energy Center. Specific game times and our opponent will be determined this weekend and communicated with everyone as soon as possible. If we play at 11:00 am or 1:00 pm, we will offer a student bus to attend the game as that is during the school day. If we play at 6:00 pm or 8:00 pm, we will not offer a student bus to attend the game as that is after our school day.
Students wanting to attend the game Wednesday 1pm game at the Excel Energy Center will need their parent/caretaker to complete a google form that will be provided soon. This will serve as parent/caretaker permission for students who will ride the bus or drive themselves. Also, prior to leaving the high school for the game, students will need to show to our staff that they have purchased a game ticket. No other phone calls or emails will be accepted to the attendance office.
We are looking forward to a great state tournament for our boys hockey team - Go Raiders!

If you were unable to make it to conferences and and feel like you need to connect, please reach out to teachers by email or phone to set up a time to visit about your child's progress. We will continue to work hard to create, support and nurture a culture of leadership and excellence at NHS. Please reach out to teachers, counselors and administration if you have questions or concerns.

Mayor's Youth Council Update
Hello again from the Mayor’s Youth Council!
The City Council chose to reject bids for the new water treatment plant. The initial estimate in June 2024 for the construction cost was approximately $33 million. The bids that were presented to the Council in February 2025 were more than twice that amount. Council members considered the high property taxes already placed on community members. As a result, the Council felt it was irresponsible to move forward with the current construction bids. City Council remains committed to moving the project forward by beginning smaller construction projects for the site including a road and an outbuilding. The Council will likely request new project bids next year.
This year Northfield’s Environmental Quality Commission will table at the Northfield Earth Day celebration on Saturday April 26, 2025. For more information on the Earth Day Celebration visit https://northfieldearthday.com/
In other Northfield news, the Planning Commission rejected the Historical Preservation Commission’s recommendation to list Central Park as a historic location.
