PCHS Weekly Updates
September 3, 2021
Message from Principals McBride & Woods
PCHS Community,
The first week of the 21-22 school year is in the books, and it has been a joyful one for us. We hope this is how your students have been coming home feeling too!
As you continue to support your student(s) through their high school career, the Michigan Career Outlook is a really interesting resource to support conversation. Check out the Outlook through 2028 here, which is organized by the level of education required to pursue each career. Now more than ever, our students are ahead of the game if they develop a sense of their career interests and tailor their high school and post-secondary plans strategically in service of those.
We look forward to seeing our students again on Tuesday!
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend,
Mrs. McBride & Mrs. Woods
Want to take the SAT, NMSQT or PSAT at PCHS on October 13, 2021? Sign up here by September 10.
Why take this fall test administration?
- If you are a Junior and want to take the PSAT/NMSQT to try to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship
- If you are a Senior and weren't able to take the SAT in the spring or want to take it again to try to improve your score
- If you are a Freshmen or Sophomore who wants a practice PSAT experience before the mandatory spring administration
2021-22 PCHS Weekly School Schedule
What's Happening in Seminar?
This week, students began to get to know one another and their Seminar teacher to set the groundwork for being a safe, connected space where students have a go-to adult: their Seminar teacher. Students were asked to share some insight with their Seminar teacher about themselves, their interests, their experience with school last year, and even how they would prefer to meet the 3 key objectives of Seminar together through what would feel meaningful and relevant for them. Students were also reminded of some key policies and expectations here at PCHS that will set them up to successfully engage in the PCHS community. Many even engaged in a presentation about how to professionally email your teacher or boss to set students up right away this year to be strong self-advocates. It felt like a lively launch to a piece of our weekly schedule we really want to do right this year!

A note about contact tracing and quarantine procedures at PCHS
Strictly following contact tracing and quarantine protocol will be one of our best defenses in addition to mask-wearing to prevent any spread in the event we have cases arise. And vaccination is our best offense against illness and quarantine. Thank you!
