Principals' Message
Please help us remind students of "on path" behaviors and expectations. We are always striving to honor our values of Teamwork, Own the Moment and having a Passion for Growth. Reminding students of these values and behaving in a way that model them is very helpful as we enter into our last 9 weeks of the year 21/22 school year!
We want to say a huge THANK YOU for supporting our PTO spring flower fundraiser. These funds will be extremely helpful as we continue to plan for students and staff next school year. As a reminder, flower pick up day is May 10th! Save the date!
Ohio State Testing (OST) is in full swing and will continue off and on through the month of April in grades 3, 4, and 5. We are so proud of our students, how hard they have worked, and the confidence they are showing as they use this opportunity to "show what they know!" Thank YOU for ensuring students are getting a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast to begin their day.
Please read through the details below as there are some very fun events coming up this spring! Don't miss out on the exciting opportunities to join in on all the spring events! We are wishing each of you and all our students a WONDERFUL & SAFE SPRING BREAK!
As always, thank you for your continued support and reach out if we can be of assistance to you or your family.

R6 Build Skill
1.) Choose the Mindset
- "I will invest the time and I won't give up!"
“I understand that discomfort is part of the process. If I avoid discomfort, I prevent learning. I can do hard things!”
“I will make mistakes, and they will teach me.”
“I want feedback and coaching to help me grow.”
Check out this video! We showed this to students to help them understand that when we fall down we get back up!
2.) Do the Work
- Commit to E+R=O (event + response = outcome) daily!
- Do the reps! It won't be easy, but the more you do practice the more something becomes a habit.
- You WILL make mistakes! This is normal. Use failure as feedback!
3.) Be Coachable
Be willing to receive feedback from others.
Be willing to be challenged.
The more coachable you are, the faster you will get better.
Be grateful someone cares enough about you to to invest time and energy to help you get better.
CHOOSE THE MINDSET!
DO THE WORK!
BE COACHABLE!

Counselor's Corner
Spring is a season of change-- longer days, sunshine, warmer weather, Spring sports, testing season and the list could go on! Spring is an exciting time in and out of school but any changes in routines and schedules can be difficult for students. Students may also be experiencing “Spring fever” and have difficulty focusing in the classroom. These calming strategies and tips can help support your child find focus and calm in this season of change.
Allow for creative expression. Set out crayons and paper or a notebook and pen, encourage scribbling, note writing or drawing (Some teens still like to color too!)
Create a calming spot in the house. Make it a normal part of the day to visit the calming spot to relax or recharge.
Model deep breathing throughout the day. Say out loud, “I’m going to take a deep breath,” use bubbles, balloons, candles or a pinwheel to make it fun.
Make relaxation part of the routine. Let your child pick out a favorite bubble bath scent, include back rubs or hair brushing into the pre-bedtime ritual.
Get moving. Go outside, run around, go to a park, swim or play catch. Enroll your child in activities that give them opportunities for movement.
Let feelings be feelings. Rather than minimize or discourage your child from expressing their feelings, normalize them by saying, “you look angry right now” or “you seem really worried about that test tomorrow.”

Library
Happy Spring!! March has been a busy month in the Library. Kindergarten and 1st grade students have revisited our book care rules and had some really fun read-alouds. Ask your Kindergartener to mimic a penguin braying!!! Second graders have been working diligently on finishing their Flat Stanley and journals. We are very close to finishing! Third grade has been practicing database searches on the Chromebooks. Fourth grade finished their Ohio booklets and 5th grade students are putting the finishing touches on their I SPY 3D projects. Next week they will all be on display for the whole school to see.
Our Author/Illustrator, Jeffrey Ebbeler, will be visiting on May 18. Be on the lookout for more information about his visit and the opportunity to purchase one of his books when we return from spring break.
