In Washington Township we know that when students attend school they engage with their teachers, with their peers and with the content being taught daily. This allows children to grow and achieve academically, socially, and emotionally. Many people don’t realize that missing just 10% of the school year, or 2- 3 days every month, adds up to so much lost time in the classroom that it can make it difficult for children of all ages to keep up with the learning. When children don’t show up for school regularly they miss out on fundamental skills and the chance to build the habit of good attendance that will carry them into their future.

What Can Parents/Caregivers Do?

As we begin the new quarter, here are a few reminder of simple ways for you to partner with us at school to encourage, promote, and engage in positive attendance habits:

  • Remain in contact with your child’s teacher(s)

  • Know the school attendance policy

  • Ask for help if there are barriers preventing your child from getting to school

  • Check-in on your child’s attendance and academic progress

  • Talk regularly about the importance of attending school each day.

  • Establish routines to get to school on-time each day

  • Develop a back-up plan to get to school if your child misses the bus.

  • Encourage your student to participate in clubs, activities, and sports offered throughout the school year.

Attend. Engage. Achieve.

Weekly homework packet for October 20-24 Due on Friday, October 24 Weekly homework packet for October 20-24 Due on Friday, October 24

The Homework Packet is sent home each Monday, and it is due by Friday (signed) each week. Each week your child will complete the packet. The packet is made up of a spiral review of Reading, English, and Math skills. Each skill area is separated by day. Students should tun in packet with each day finished by Friday of each week. The students will have a quiz on the topics in the weekly packet. Please sign the reading log. If a child completes his/her homework and returns it, then he/she will earn Superhero Points to spend at the Superhero Store each month. The is scored for Superhero Store Points based on the completion percentage (see above). It is for the practice and family interaction. In a few weeks students will have spelling words to practice. When spelling starts they will get their words in the Homework Packet on Mondays. Students will have a pre-test on Wednesdays and the Final Test on Fridays. The pre-test test is on Wednesday, and if they get 100% correct on the pre-test, they will use that score and will not test on Friday. Remember you can complete the book borrowing sheet and your child will bring home some books at their reading level. The books can be returned at anytime during the week or on Fridays.

Volunteer Requirements - MSD Washington Township

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with MSDWT. A strong base of volunteers is essential to provide the necessary supports to students' academic, social, and emotional development. While we welcome volunteers into our school community, we must also be diligent in providing a safe and secure environment for our students.
