“I may be the Mayor of Atlanta now. But it wasn't too long ago that I was just a kid from Adamsville looking for opportunities. I'm committed to creating those opportunities for young people all across this city. To Move Atlanta Forward together, we are calling on partners in the private sector, nonprofits and other governments to help us create 3000 jobs. internships and externships.”

Actuarial Science and Programming Camps
for your technically-inclined students who want to explore actuarial science or computer programming
An actuary uses mathematical and financial tools to help identify and manage risk, so it's a great career for students who are mathematically strong but not necessarily interested in teaching. For more than 30 years we've run a one-week residential summer camp for rising high school seniors to help them decide if they want to pursue actuarial work. More recently, my colleague Stephanie Blanda began offering a programming/AI camp.
This message has four links. The first two point to pages where students can apply for the camps, and the latter two allow people to RSVP for virtual information sessions about the actuarial profession and the camps. The information sessions are open to students, parents, teachers, and anyone else who’s interested.

Recruiting Firefighters
First Ever Firefighter Cohort at DHS
We are working hard to recruit 10 - 20 rising seniors for our first ever firefighter cohort at DHS - in partnership with Atlanta Technical College and City of Decatur fire department.
We have 3 kids interested so far but need a min of 10 to make it happen.
Coach Felton is helping and created this graphic for us - could this be pushed out via DBB Boosters, DHS Counseling (only to rising seniors class of 2027), Keson's instagram accounts, DHS CTAE newsletter, DHS newsletter, your sports team text threads?
Thank you all!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU ARE TAKING THE SAT OR ACT TEST
All students must come to the test center with three things for both tests:
1 - A device that they have made sure can be used for the test. There are no devices to be loaned from the test center.
2 - An Admission ticket. You must have a paper/printed admission ticket for the ACT. A printed or an electronic ticket may be used for the SAT.
3 - A hard plastic ID card, passport, or completed ACT or SAT ID form (completed = everything filled out and it is signed/notarized). School ID must show the current year. State federal ID must be valid on the test date.
ACT Registrations
ACT requires device readiness checks on all testing devices 2 to 4 weeks prior to testing. Examinees will be responsible for performing device readiness on their laptops.
