Notes from the Principal:

  • The current grading cycle ends November 3rd and that is only two weeks away. Please encourage your scholar to make the most of these 2 weeks and finish strong academically, socially with their interaction with their peers and with their attendance.
  • Please be sure to touch base with your scholar's teachers to keep current on their academic progress as well as important deadlines and other academic activities.
  • Our scholars will take their 2nd district assessment October 30th - November 2nd. These are important tools that require a charged chromebook. This provides valuable information to track our scholar's progress and mastery with important concepts taught in their core classes. Please help us by ensuring they are present and take this opportunity seriously.
  • Red Ribbon Week is this week. Scholars are encouraged to participate in the themed dress days with jeans and the appropriate theme of the day. However, sweatpants and various face paint will not be permitted.
  • Please encourage your scholar to let a school counselor or administrator know if they are having conflict with others. Some of our scholars are making unhealthy choices to resolve problems and it is resulting in unsafe practices. We want our school to have a productive teaching and learning environment. Please partner with us to help make this happen.
  • We will be hosting a digital parent workshop November 6th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. The topics will be cyberbullying and sharing tips to not only keep your scholar safe, but also guard against conflict with others which presents safety concerns as well as distractions from teaching and learning in school.
  • Please make note that all middle school scholars must wear their ID badges to all CHISD athletic functions and be accompanied by their parents/guardians. This does not include one adult accompanying different scholars that they do not serve as their parent/guardian.
  • If your scholar started the school year with an unnatural hair color (blue, pink, bright red, orange, etc.) their grace period expired October 5th. All hair color must now be within CHISD dress code or consequences will be applied. We have started this process after weeks of grace and there still seems to be much confusion. Please be sure to read the dress code carefully so we are all on one accord.
  • There has been a revision to our standard of dress for scholars each week. Please make note of the change regarding Fridays. Scholars can now wear college/university tops on Fridays with jeans as another option beyond CHISD spirit attire.
  • CHISD has added a Voter-Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) to the November 7th Ballot. Please click here to learn amore information about the proposed VATRE and important voter registration guidelines and deadlines.
  • Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged Chromebooks. Insurance is available and worth the investment. Click here to learn more information and sign up for insurance for your scholar's Chromebook.
  • It is imperative that all scholars bring their charged Chromebooks with them daily. We need all scholars present, on time, focused and committed to their personal scholastic achievement.

Faithfully,

Dr. Lemons

Principal, Permenter Middle School
