PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

It is hard to believe that we are in the month of April! We only have a couple of short months left of the 2024-2025 school year! At The Park we make every day count, so we need students here, everyday ready and on time. Research shows that consistent attendance equals higher achievement in the areas of academics, social interactions and emotional regulation.

💜April is the Month of the Military Child and at The Park this month we will be taking time to honor our military families and their dedication to our country.

📖April is also National Poetry Month! This month at The Park our Patriots will be exploring this genre more deeply in the classroom, our library and beyond!

💪 This month we are encouraging all families to take part in our April Family Wellness Challenge! You can find more info about this challenge below!

🏃It is the time of year for children to go outside and enjoy the warmer weather. Children will go for walks, play on the playground, and enjoy games around the building as part of their educational day. Play is an important part of a child's education. Please have your child wear sneakers everyday and are dressed appropriately for the weather so they can have a safe and fun experience outside.

☀️Monongalia County Schools will be hosting Summer Avalanche programming here at The Park in the month of July. This program offers FREE summer learning opportunities, breakfast and lunch with programming running from 9am-2pm! Be looking for course registration information coming home soon. ✏️Save the date for April 30th! Students in grades 3-5 will be taking the writing portion of the West Virginia General Summative Assessment. On May 12th-16th students will be taking the science, reading and math portions of the assessment. Please block off these dates and ensure your student is in school and on time so that they can perform their best! You can learn more about the WVGSA here.

⭐We continue to collect pop tabs for The Ronald McDonald House. Please send in your pop tabs with your student or drop them off in the front vestibule donation area to be donated to our local RMH.

Math Field Day Winner!

Congratulations to 5th Grader Dan is who in his way this month to the State Math Field Day Competition after coming in 1st place at the county and regional levels! Good Luck Dan!

Read Across America

We had the BEST time celebrating our love for reading last month during Read Across America Week!

Innovation Lab FUN!

Our 5th Graders recently finished up a project in the Innovation Lab to create snow plow attachments for Dash from recycled materials and then tested out their designs!

Month of the Military Child

Did you know that we have many Military Families here at The Park? This month and everyday we celebrate and honor their commitment to our country.

💜We will be kicking off the month with our school-wide "Purple Up Day!" All students are encouraged to wear purple on Thursday, April 3rd. You can learn more about our Purple Up! Day with this video.

💪 April Family Wellness Challenge

This month we are challenging our Patriots and their families to focus on their mental and physical well-being during our "April Family Wellness Challenge." Students will be bringing home an April Wellness Calendar to complete daily challenges. Guardians will provide a signature for each day their family completes the wellness task. At the end of the month, students will receive prizes for their participation.

🍎Pre-K Registration Info:

Beginning February 3rd students who will be 4 years of age on or before June 30, 2025 will be able to register for Pre-K/Head Start. Click here for more information about what is needed to register AND to register for PK. Preferential placement will be given to families with complete applications submitted prior to 4/15/25.

🍏Kindergarten Registration Info:

Children must be 5 on or before June 30, 2025 to register. ALL incoming Kindergarteners must fill out a registration form even if they were enrolled in MCS Pre-K.
