Loving God, I thank you for the gift of life you gave and continue to give to me and to all of us.

Gracious God, I pray that with your grace, I will act with reverence, protect, and promote all life and that I will be especially be sensitive to the abused, neglected, disabled, and the elderly.

Living God, I praise and glorify you as Father, Source of all life, as Son, Savior of our lives, and as Spirit, Sanctifier of our lives.

Amen.

Welcome back to Term 4!

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful school holiday break and that we are all ready for Term 4. The children certainly had many great stories and recounts of adventures, travels and activities. There are lots of wonderful events and activities planned for the term and Christmas will be here before we know it.

We welcome Mrs Maura Killalea to Queen of Apostles. Maura will be supporting me as Assistant Principal while I step into the Principal’s position until the end of the year. We hope she enjoys her short stay at Queenies. The extended leadership team of Robyn Salvia, Ross Bridgeman, Maura and myself look forward to finishing off the year in grand style.

Term 4 is a very busy term with a huge number of events and activities.

Important events in the next few weeks include:

- Open Night and Bookfair - 22 October

- Interschool Athletics - 24 October

As the excitement of Christmas (and extended holidays) draw near, our aim will be to ensure valuable learning time is not wasted. We still have a term of learning to go and we would appreciate parents supporting us in this endeavour. Children being children, are not always best placed to make important decisions about their learning, be it social, emotional or cognitive. Please trust our teachers if they contact you about concerns they may have regarding your child. We are not doctors, or psychologists, or therapists… but we are the experts in understanding your child’s social, emotional, physical or cognitive needs within the classroom context. We care deeply about every child and will do our best to let you know our concerns and point you in the right direction if outside assistance is needed.

Kids for kids Market Day

Thank you to all the students who supported the kids for kids Market Day today. This is a major event in our school fundraising calendar where every class contributes to raising money for the Flame of Love Orphanage in the Congo.

This is an opportunity for our school to support the Pallotine Order in their Outreach to the poor. At the end of the year, we will present what we have raised to the Pallottine Apostolate.

Canteen Volunteers

Our canteen manager, Sharon is in need of assistance on Thursday and Friday mornings. If you can spare an hour or two on either of these days, please see Sharon. A reminder that the Volunteers Form will need to be filled out if it hasn’t already been submitted this year. Due to Child Safety regulations, only parents can volunteer in the canteen – friends or grandparents require a Working With Children Card.

Volunteering

The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. If you filled out the form last year you will need to do it again this year. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.

Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
