Campus Administrator ~ Kari Kusek

Dear Wildcat Community,

As we move into the final weeks of the quarter, we want to celebrate the many ways our students continue to shine. Our fall play, Rogue's Crew, was an incredible performance that showcased collaboration, confidence, and creativity by our cast and crew. Thank you to the families, staff, and volunteers who helped bring the production to life—your support truly strengthens our school community.

We are also excited for our upcoming Unified Theater production, where students of all abilities come together to create something meaningful and joyful. This event reflects the best of who we are and reinforces our commitment to ensuring every student has a place to belong and contribute. You can experience this for yourself, Wednesday, December 17th at 6:30pm.

Our winter athletics are also in full swing. As Boys' Basketball wraps up a season filled with perseverance and growth, we are proud of the teamwork and sportsmanship they’ve demonstrated. Meanwhile, Girls' Basketball is gearing up for a strong start—come cheer them on as they begin their season and build momentum. We love seeing our students support one another in the stands and on the court.

As we finish the quarter, we invite families to help us reinforce our core values in everyday moments. Here are a few examples of how our students are living these values each day:

  • Community: Students come together to perform, compete, and accomplish new skills, lifting each other up both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Achievement: Between mastering fractions, improving their elective skills, or growing on the Winter STAR Assessment next week, students are showing dedication and pride in their progress.

  • Respect: Student continue to use positive language, show kindness, and support their peers in a variety of spaces.

  • Equity: Those positive words and actions then provide all students with the opportunity to access their education in a safe and respectful environment.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us as we continue to have an amazing year at West!

WMS BUDGET UPDATE WMS BUDGET UPDATE

Budget Update: A Message of Transparency and Partnership

As part of our commitment to keeping our community informed, we are sharing a brief video (below) that outlines the most up-to-date information about the district budget and the factors influencing our financial outlook. This includes the impact of state and federal funding and the broader economic conditions shaping school budgets across Colorado.

CCSD is not alone in navigating a challenging budget environment. School districts, cities, and counties statewide are facing similar pressures, and the state continues to manage a structural deficit of at least $800 million.

We remain deeply grateful for our community’s support in donating to the Wildcat Challenge and the PTCO and for all of the wonderful ways WMS is supported by those efforts. We appreciate your partnership and ongoing support as we work together to make the best decisions for our school community.

Accountability Meeting Date Change

More information and details will be shared as we get closer to the date.

CA OFFICE CA OFFICE

Dear Wildcat Families,

In the age of AI and all of its amazing capabilities, we want to make sure that our students know when and how to use AI appropriately. Across the country, young people are using AI for answers to more complicated topics including depression, anxiety, and other issues that would be better served speaking to a human. We showed the following graphic in our Monday Announcements and reminded students to reach out to a trusted adult at home or at school when they need to tackle these important issues. Safe2Tell and 988 are two other great resources if students are or know someone who is experiencing a crisis. Conversations at home will also help students know who to go to in moments of crisis.

Enjoy the lead up to the holiday season and have a fantastic end to the quarter!

📚 Yearbooks for Sale ! 📚

Now is the perfect time to secure your student’s 2025-2026 Yearbook! Our presale price of $35 ends on December 20th, and we want to make sure families have the most up-to-date information about how to purchase.

RevTrak will no longer be available after December 20th.

If you’d like to purchase online, please do so before Winter Break while the RevTrak link is still active.

Starting January 1st:

  • We are beginning the transition to MySchoolBucks for online payments; however, we do not yet have a confirmed date for when the new link will be active. While we wait for the system to go live, yearbooks can be purchased in cash only with Ms. Wheeler in the Main Office or Mr. Klein in Bookkeeping.

We encourage families to purchase early - both to save money and to ensure a guaranteed copy, as we have a limited number of books available!

Transportation is required by CDE Regulations to account for all students on the bus and unauthorized passengers are not permitted. However, the Transportation Department recognizes that circumstances may arise, e.g. a family emergency, parents out of town, etc., when a student needs to ride home with another student on a one-time only basis. The student must get off at the assigned stop of the student they are riding with (no exceptions).

Make sure to fill out and turn in the linked Permission Slip to the Campus Admins office no later than 9:00 AM on the requested ride date. Forms can be printed and handed to the Campus Admins Assistant. Hard copies of the form can be picked up from the Campus Admins office if they are needed but must be picked up prior to the day they need to ride a different bus. No emails will be accepted. If there is an emergency, please call the Campus Admins office at 720-554-5155.
