MHS Students Work Towards a More Inclusive School Culture

This month, I want to celebrate a remarkable group of student leaders at Methacton High School who are taking action to build a more inclusive school community. Born out of conversations during Student Voice Day and Dreaming Forward, the new student-led Belonging Ambassadors are leading the way in ensuring every MHS student feels welcomed, valued, and supported.

Through creative initiatives—such as decorating front lobby pillars for Unity Day, sharing anti-bullying messages with Warrior News, and launching a cafeteria Lunch Buddy program—these students are actively strengthening connection across the school community. This effort directly embodies Methacton’s core values of Empower All Learners, Appreciate Our Diversity, and Nurture Our Talents by inviting all students to contribute their unique perspectives, build a welcoming environment, and develop as compassionate leaders.

Thank you to Methacton's Belonging and Climate Facilitator Michaela Zelli and the High School Belonging Liason, Ms. Markley, for guiding these students and helping them turn their dialogue into action.

Health Events at Methacton High School

Methacton High School was a hub for important health events this month, including a flu, COVID, and measles vaccine clinic and the annual fall blood drive!

Thanks to Skippack Pharmacy, we were able to provide dozens of staff, families and community members with potentially life-saving vaccines at the clinic on October 15.

Just two weeks later, our high school Red Cross club hosted the fall blood drive. I'm so proud of our students for rolling up their sleeves to donate more than 59 units of blood, on top of the 47 units donated by members of our Methacton community. That's a total of 106 units of blood, which each unit saving up to three lives! Thank you to everyone who donated, and a huge shout out to nurse Kathy Thompson for her hard work in organizing these events to keep our community safe and healthy.

Meadowood Readers Bring Joy to Worcester

This month, more than a dozen residents from Meadowood Senior Living visited Worcester Elementary to read with the students. This tradition creates intergenerational partnerships and supports our literacy work at the elementary level. As part of the partnership, students at Worcester also visit Meadowood, practicing their reading skills with residents and putting on an annual holiday concert.
