Dear Stony Brook Families,

What incredible weather we have ahead of us! While I absolutely love these beautiful October days, I have no doubt that the warmer temperatures will contribute to our ever-growing Lost & Found collection! As children shed their sweatshirts and jackets throughout the day, those items have a way of finding new homes around the building. Please be sure to label your child's outerwear, and if your child arrives home wearing less than they left the house with, you probably know where to look! Of course, as we head into November, we know this beautiful weather won't last forever, so let's enjoy every minute of it!

Speaking of November, don't forget to "fall back" next weekend! Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 1, so remember to turn your clocks back one hour. While we may appreciate that extra hour of sleep, adjusting to the time change can sometimes be a challenge for our little ones!

I also want to thank all of our families who participated in parent-teacher conferences last week. These conversations are such an important part of your child's educational journey. Research consistently shows that when families and schools work together, children benefit academically, socially, and emotionally. Conferences provide an opportunity to celebrate your child's growth, discuss strengths and areas for continued development, and share valuable insights about how your child learns. After all, you know your child best, and that partnership between home and school helps us provide the support and encouragement each child needs to thrive.

If you were unable to meet with your child's teacher during our scheduled conferences, I encourage you to reach out and arrange a time to connect. Whether your child is excelling, working through a challenge, or somewhere in between, these conversations matter. Our shared goal is to help every child feel successful, confident, and excited about learning.

As always, thank you for being such an important part of our Stony Brook community. Enjoy the sunshine, soak up these beautiful fall days, and don't forget to check the Lost & Found!

Kindly,

Mrs. Kasper

Celebrating Neurodiversity at Stony Brook!

Our students were an amazing audience as we learned about the importance of celebrating differences, embracing what makes each of us unique, and showing kindness and respect to others. A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Katy Boucher for sharing such a wonderful and meaningful presentation with our Stony Brook community!

Last week’s family conferences were fueled by the delicious lunch and snacks generously provided by our amazing PTO! We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness and continued support of our staff. Their kindness and generosity are truly appreciated!

PTO:

The PTO is powered by parent and caregiver volunteers. If you’d like to volunteer your time, we have many ways you can help. Sign up to receive our emails (which will include when we have specific volunteer needs), email us at brewsterpto@gmail.com with your ideas, or come to our next open PTO meeting. We’d love to have you!

No time to volunteer but still want to support us? We get it — donations help keep our work going, too.

  • All students NOT going on a bus must be picked up in the Car Pool area. If you are picking up your child at the end of the day you have TWO options:
  1. Drive through the Car Pool line, or
  2. Walk to school or park car and retrieve your child at the Car Pool area. Please do not walk into bus area to pick up your child from the front of school. This includes those picking up siblings of Pre-Schoolers. We thank you for your cooperation with this.
  • Please remember to drive slowly when entering the school zone and parking lot areas
  • If you are dropping off your child at Car Pool and it is after 7:45, you MUST walk your child into the building. The adults at Car Pool after 7:45 are Pre-School staff members, not Stony Brook. Pre-School teachers are not responsible for K-2 students entering school late. Students must be signed in as tardy if it is after 7:45.

Birthdays at Stony Brook Birthdays at Stony Brook

Personalized Birthday Messages

I create a Morning Message video each morning to avoid interrupting classrooms using the PA system. I like to include fun birthday greetings to students in these videos. Basically, you email me (Kasperc@nausetschools.org) a front facing picture of your pet a few days before your child's birthday and I will include a similar greeting in the Morning Message. Here is a sample video.

Don't worry if you don't have a pet (or forget), I have plenty of animal photos to use!
