Homecoming 2026
Homecoming is almost here! We're excited to celebrate the week of October 4–10. Full event details are coming soon, but you can find information on ordering your Homecoming t-shirt and details for the dance below.
With the Homecoming Dance coming up on Saturday, October 10 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., it’s time to start planning your look! Whether you’re going semi-formal or dressy-casual we want everyone looking sharp and ready to dance. While elevated style is encouraged, standard dress code rules apply—no hats or hoods will be permitted inside the building.
If you plan to bring a guest from another school to the dance, guest passes will be available for pickup starting on Monday, September 14 at the bookkeeping office until Thursday, October 1. All completed guest passes must be submitted to the bookkeeping office no later than Friday, October 2, by 3:30 p.m. Please remember that guests must be at least in the 9th grade and no older than 19 years old.
The Homecoming Dance tickets will go on sale on Monday, September 21 at the Bookkeeping Office for $10.
Take the time to plan ahead, look your absolute best, and make it a night to remember!
The deadline to order a t-shirt is Sunday, September 27. T-shirts will be delivered to WHS the week of Homecoming.
Student Services
Help Your Student Plan for Their Future!
Be sure to check out the Student Services Calendar for upcoming visits from college representatives and military recruiters. These visits provide your student with a valuable opportunity to learn about post-high school options, explore college and career pathways, ask questions, and connect with representatives directly. We encourage parents to remind their students to take advantage of these visits. Your support and encouragement can make an important difference as they begin planning for life after high school.
Library Media Center Updates
Jamie Klubertanz - Library Media Specialist
The first few weeks in the library have been busy and we love it! Our English 9 students recently visited the WHS Library for an introduction to all the great resources available to them. They learned how to explore the collection and check out print books, eBooks, and audiobooks. There’s truly something for every kind of reader! Catalogs for all types of books can be found on the Media Center webpage. Happy reading!

Meet the New Faces of WHS
Emily Bailinson - Social Studies Teacher
Emily is joining us as our new Social Studies teacher. Originally from San Francisco, California, she recently returned to Madison after spending time in Ottawa, Canada. She is excited to be back in the area!
Emily brings a wealth of knowledge to our department, holding degrees from Haverford College, Northwestern University, and UW-Madison. Outside the classroom, you’ll most likely find her relaxing with her favorite hobby: knitting!
Save the Date
Germany 2027
Give Your Child a Global Perspective: Germany 2027
We are excited to offer all WHS students a unique opportunity to expand their horizons through an educational travel experience to Germany in June of '27. (No knowledge of German required!)
Travel changes how young people see the world—and themselves. Beyond sights in the culturally rich areas of Munich, Salzburg and the Alps, this trip is designed to build real-world confidence, cultural literacy, and independence in a safe, structured environment.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
College & Career Readiness: Experiential learning and international travel stand out on college applications and scholarship essays, demonstrating curiosity and global awareness.
Hands-On Learning: History, language, and culture come alive outside the textbook, helping students make deeper connections to their school curriculum.
Personal Growth: Navigating new environments and a stay with a German family helps students build self-reliance, adaptability, and lifelong friendships.
Join Us for an Information Session We know an international trip is a significant investment and decision for your family. We are hosting a brief meeting to cover the complete itinerary, safety protocols, academic benefits, and flexible payment plans.
When: Sunday, September 20
Where: WHS, Room S274
Time: 6 p.m.
Can’t make the meeting? Click the link above to view the digital information packet. Contact Frau Schneider (schneiderk@mywusd.org) with any questions.
