Health Room News You Can Use
How to access the SNAP Portal
Parents-Welcome back! This is a brief newsletter with some information to get the year started right in the health room. Below you will find instructions to update the SNAP health portal for this school year. This for contains important medical information and gives us permission to give your child several over the counter medications during the school day. You do not have to give this permission if you do not wish for us to give OTC medications to your child-simply decline where applicable. One important note-THIS MUST BE COMPLETED ON A COMPUTER. If you do this on a phone or tablet, the information does not transfer to our medical system. I have updated the permissions, so everyone should have access to this. If you have any trouble, please reach out to me by email at pseiger@qcsd.org and I will try my best to help you navigate it.
Go to https://www.studentehr.com
Log in using the email address you have on file with the school and your password.
If you don't know what your password is for this site, click Forgot Password and you will be sent an email to reset the password. If this is not working please email me.
Alerts and Conditions
From the menu on the left, click Alerts & Conditions and review the conditions listed for your child(ren).
If the health concerns are all correct, click Confirm at the top of the screen.
If incorrect click the pencil icon to edit a condition
If something is missing click +Add to add a new condition.
Once the information is correct, click Confirm.
*Please do not delete old conditions. If a condition is no longer present please edit and just add a comment and I will make it inactive or send me an email.
Medications
From the menu on the left, click Medications.
Click the OTCs button on the right. (OTC stands for Over The Counter, which are medications obtained without a prescription).
A window will appear listing medications available from your school nurse.
Click Opt-In for any medications you want your child to have access to during the school day.
Ensure that a selection has been made for each medication and click Done to save your selections.
Exams:
Please update your students' screenings in SNAP with the last medical/physical exam, dental exam and vision exam and attach a copy or send one in with your student.
HEALTH FORMS
If you have copies of your students physical or dental forms, please send them to school with them on the first day. Incoming students in kindergarten are required to have a physical exam and a dental exam completed within the last year.
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
If your student takes a daily medication, all efforts should be made to give these medications at home. We understand that sometimes dose requirements require it to be given during the school day. If this is the case, you will need to complete a medication at school form. If you need a copy of this form, please drop me an email and I will send a copy to you. Keep in mind that all medications (other than inhalers, epi pens and diabetic supplies) must be brought to school by a parent. This year we are also required to count pills with a parent when they are dropped off-so plan on a little extra time at drop off-especially the first couple days of school.
HEALTH RELATED ISSUES
If your student has asthma, seizures or a food/environmental allergy that requires an epi pen, please notify the health room. There are several forms that should be completed so that we can properly care for your student in an emergency. Again, please reach out to me for those forms-we are here to help!
