Happy Valentine's Day
Learning about Valentine's Day in school helped students understand its history and the different ways people celebrate love and friendship. Since we love a good theme, staff created cross curricular lessons to celebrate the February holiday.
Thank you Second Home clients for our beautiful room decorations!
Black History Month
Black History Month is an important time for students to explore and celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history. By learning about notable figures, movements, and achievements, students gain a deeper understanding of the struggles and triumphs that have shaped society. It also offers an opportunity to discuss the ongoing fight for equality and justice, fostering empathy, awareness, and a commitment to creating a more inclusive future.
It's Groundhogs Day
We had a fantastic time incorporating Groundhog Day into our Language Arts, Math, and Social Skills lessons! By blending a fun holiday theme into our curriculum, students were able to explore new concepts in a creative way. The holiday provided a unique opportunity to build language skills, enhance math problem-solving, and foster important social interactions. It was a memorable way to engage students in learning while connecting the themes of anticipation, predictions, and collaboration across subjects.
🎇Breaking Geodes 🌟
Students read an N2Y article about the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show and unit identification of solids, then participated in cracking open geodes to discover a special surprise inside!
Super Bowl Stats: Touchdowns, Tackles, & Tons of Math Fun
The Super Bowl can make a great setting for learning about math concepts like addition and measurement. Students can add up the total yards gained by each team and use a football field’s dimensions to practice measuring distances, helping them apply math skills in a fun, real-world context.
Flexible Instruction
Ms. Heather has been creating interactive and portable books for our learners. At times, for the health and safety of our students, we provide instruction directly within their rooms. As Ms. Heather wisely put it, "If they can't come to school, we bring school to them!"
Snowday Fun
Language Arts
This month, students had fun with the poem The Chubby Snowman, completing activities inspired by its playful, snowy imagery.
Fake Snow
While it may be too cold to play outside, Ms. Tracy creates snow with her students inside.
Current Events
Students stay up-to-date on current events through interactive news articles and activities through our virtual platform, News2You.
