Presented by: Peter Petronio, Senior Data Management Specialist
INNOVATIONS in Community Research and Program Evaluation
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
This presentation will discuss the origins of the SES quartile metric, its methodology, and applications for evaluating academic outcomes in Cincinnati, specifically related to the annual KRA report for early childhood literacy. The SES quartile metric is used as a proxy for income and social factors using the residential address of a student. This metric is based off an index score derived from five variables indicative of socioeconomic risk from the American Community Survey. SES quartiles can provide important context to academic outcomes by identifying regions of Cincinnati with a higher number of community risk factors.

Presented by: Ellen Goldring and Mollie Rubin
Peabody College, Vanderbilt University
Given the importance of school leadership for school improvement and school effectiveness, many district have turned to developing comprehensive, aligned systems for hiring, developing, and supporting school leaders. This presentation will address the ways in which districts conceptualize, define, and consider implementing leadership pipelines based on research in 62 districts. The research presents specific innovative examples of leadership pipeline initiatives and practices, and examines salient factors that support and inhibit the work of planning and developing aligned pipelines, including the roles and structures of central office, superintendent support, and district culture—all in the context of COVID and the subsequent availability of ARP funds.
