Let's Get Unified: The FUNdamentals

You’ve likely heard of Special Olympics, but have you heard of Unified and what truly creates the power of inclusion?

On May 9th, at 3:30 p.m., the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities will join leaders in the Special Olympics Texas movement as well as staff (and guest students!) from Port Neches-Groves High School to hear all about what makes Texas a leader in inclusion (and how you can join and support us in our movement!)

This one-of-a-kind webinar will combine two monumental subjects in one information-packed hour: Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® (including UIL Unified Interscholastic Sports) and FUNdamental Sports.

Unified Champion Schools® brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to create accepting school environments, utilizing three interconnected components: Special Olympics Unified Sports®, inclusive youth leadership, and whole school engagement.

FUNdamental Sports establishes individualized programs for athletes ages two and older who, due to their physical and/or developmental abilities, are working on foundational motor skills to prepare them for possible competitions in typical Special Olympics events.

Unified Champion Schools is in collaboration with Unified Interscholastic Sports and Activities.

There will be time for Q & A during and towards the end of the presentation. We hope you can join us for this exciting, informative webinar; help us change lives! To join this event, click on the link to register in advance: Registration

Texas Medicaid Waivers

Texas Medicaid Waivers

The Texas Medicaid waivers are a source of support for individuals with disabilities and their families. It is important that families consider signing up as early as possible as some lists have a wait list of more than 15 years. The earlier we get this information to the families the sooner services can start. This infographic contains a brief description of the services and the contact information for each of the waivers. If they would like more information, Navigate Life Texas, is a family-friendly website with information about the waiver programs here in Texas.
