DMS Delivers

Dear DMS Families,

This week we celebrated Staff Appreciation Week. Thank you to the Dighton PTO for helping to support the celebration with lunch and other daily celebrations. We are thankful for the DMS staff, and all of the work that they do to support students each day. We also completed grades 7 and 8 Math MCAS this week, and are down to only three more assessments at DMS. Grades 5 and 6 will complete the Math MCAS next week, and Grade 8 will conclude with their Civics exam the following week. Along the way, we will also have students who were absent make- up their assessments as well. Thank you all for your support over the last few months as we have navigated testing.

As we move forward, we will be sending out further details regarding the end of the year, including further information on the PTO sponsored Color Run that can be found below. In addition, please be on the lookout for information on end of year events for Grade 8 students, as an email will be coming from Mrs. Rose in the next few weeks.

We want to alert families about a dangerous social media trend known as the “TikTok Chromebook Challenge,” where students are encouraged to insert metal objects—such as paperclips, coins, or staples—into their school-issued Chromebooks. This behavior can cause electrical fires, serious injuries, and permanent device damage. It violates our technology use policy and will not be tolerated. Families will be held financially responsible for intentional damage, and students involved will face disciplinary action. Please talk to your child about the dangers of this trend and remind them that school technology is for learning, not experimentation. Slater Park Carousel is open for the 2025 season! Feinstein Jr. Scholar Cardholders, up to age 13, receive 4 complimentary carousel rides and a complimentary popcorn at Slater Park Carousel!

Must show valid Feinstein Jr. Scholar Card at admissions to participate. No advanced ticket reservation necessary.

Slater Park Carousel operates weekends only from April to June, with hours of 11am to 5pm. July and August, it will be open daily. Please note that the carousel may close during periods of heavy rain, extreme heat or special events - stay updated on carousel hours and happenings by following Slater Park Carousel!

We know that Grade 8 families are highly anticipating the end of the year, so we wanted to provide you with some tentative dates. The Grade 8 student Luau is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, June 18th. The Promotion Ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 20th. Please be aware that students are typically allowed four guests at the Promotion Ceremony, with additional guests being put on the waiting list.

Mrs. Rose will send out further details to all families as we approach the end of the school year.

Did you know that your grocery shopping can help support the Dighton PTO and our schools? Now through June 7th, qualifying purchases at Hannaford will earn valuable dollars to fund the amazing activities and events the PTO provides.

2025 Hannaford Helps Schools Shopping List

Dear DR Families,

As you may know, Massachusetts now provides free breakfast and lunch for all students across the Commonwealth!

We are encouraging families who may have qualified for the National Free & Reduced School Lunch Program in the past to complete the online application. This helps determine eligibility and ensures that we can continue to offer reduced or waived fees for various programs and activities. When completing the application, please remember to include consent for sharing your status with relevant departments and programs.

Without this qualification and your consent, we will be unable to provide reduced or waived fees.

Dear Families,

We hope this message finds you well. As part of our commitment to maintaining our technology resources, we wanted to inform you about our updated repair fee structure. This will go into effect on October 28, 2024. These fees help us cover the cost of repairs when school-issued devices are damaged due to misuse or carelessness. The fees are divided into three tiers, depending on the extent of the damage:

• Level 1: Charger, Cover (top or bottom), Touchpad, etc- $40
• Level 2: Keyboard, Monitor- $75
• Level 3: Total Loss/Replacement- $300

We encourage students to handle their devices with care to avoid any damage and the associated costs. If a device does require repair, the appropriate fee will be communicated to you along with the steps to resolve the issue.
