Online Registration through Final Forms:
The athletic packet is available to fill out online through Final Forms. Once you have a user account you can use the same account each school year to register for that school year’s athletic opportunities.
Sports Physicals: Sports physicals are valid for two years from the date they were conducted unless noted by a doctor that the Sports physical is good for one year. During a well child visit you can ask your provider for the sports physical clearance and they can provide it for you at that time. Most medical providers and walk-in clinics provide this service but it is helpful to ask when scheduling the appointment and booking in advance as the appointment slots tend to fill up quickly (especially in the fall).
Team Placement: To maximize the experience for athletes, both individually and as a team, students will be assessed during the first week of practice and placed on a team to best fit their skill level: Varsity, Junior Varsity, C-Team or E- Team. Varsity, Junior Varsity, and C-Team will travel to other schools to compete. E-Team athletes will not travel, but will instead participate in an intra-mural type program that will focus on skill building.
Team placements will be communicated after the first week of practice. If a student athlete is not placed on a traveling team they will have the opportunity to participate in the E team program.

Digital Citizenship Curriculum Updates
Dear Families,
We are excited to share that our K-12 Digital Citizenship curriculum has been revised to better support students in developing the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in today’s digital world. These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to student safety, digital literacy, and ethical technology use.
Why Are We Updating the Curriculum?
Technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace. As new digital tools, platforms, and issues emerge, it is our responsibility to ensure our curriculum includes:
Latest best practices in digital safety and citizenship
Annual review of Digital Citizenship curriculum per state law
Tools and challenges students encounter in their daily lives, including Artificial Intelligence (AI)
What’s New This Year?
Enhanced content around online privacy, respectful communication, media literacy, and responsible use of technology
New lessons on AI (Artificial Intelligence) for secondary students: These age-appropriate additions introduce students to the responsible, ethical use of AI tools, how they function, and how to think critically about AI-generated content
Improved grade-band alignment and developmentally appropriate topics to ensure learning is meaningful at every level
What Students Will Learn:
Students will explore topics such as:
How to stay safe and protect their privacy online
How to identify and avoid misinformation
How to use generative AI tools ethically and responsibly
How to engage in respectful digital communication
When Students Will Learn:
Middle school students will learn about Digital Citizenship and AI during their Skills For Life period, typically taught in 7th grade
All secondary students will learn about the Student AI Code of Conduct in September
Advisory period
What This Means for Your Family:
These lessons are designed not only to meet academic standards but also to support your child’s well-being and integrity in digital spaces. We encourage you to talk with your child about what they’re learning and to explore these topics together at home.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students become thoughtful, responsible, and empowered digital citizens.
District Attendance Communications
State Law and required attendance
The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District and staff care about the well-being and academic achievement of each student. We know that daily attendance is one of the most powerful predictors of school success and on-time graduation. Our goal is to have every student at school on time, every day.
State law for mandatory attendance, called the Becca Bill, requires children from age 8 to 17 to attend a public school, private school or a district-approved home school program. Children who are 6 or 7 years old are not required to be enrolled in school. However, if parents enroll their 6 or 7 year old, the student must attend full time. And, school districts are required, under RCW 28.225.020 and RCW 28A.225.030 to take a series of actions when students accrue absences.
Also by law, we notify parents/guardians when their student is absent. If a student reaches a certain number of unexcused absences the school will contact parents/guardians to create a plan to support good attendance. Find information about excuse and unexcused absences, tardies and attendance procedures in the district’s Student & Family Information Guide and Policy 3122 Excused and Unexcused Absences.
