Principal's Message
Attteeeennnnttttiiiioooonnn!
Greetings Generals!
There are only 9.5 school days left in quarter 1! Parents, those quarter 1 report cards don't go home until November 12 so please make sure you are checking Schoology for the latest grade updates. If you have questions about what's happening in classrooms, please reach out to teachers. If you still have questions, be sure you are connecting with your student's counselor or Assistant Principal as well.
PSAT is next week (October 22). There will be no changes to the bell schedule, but we will have students report to different locations on Thursday to allow us to isolate our 10th and 11th graders who may be taking the PSAT. Information about testing locations and relocated classrooms will be shared with students beginning Monday October 19.
As we find ourselves nearing the end of the fall sports regular season, we know that means two things here at Towson Athletics: #1: Anyone thinking about trying out for a WINTER sport, needs to go into FOCUS and register for tryouts. Do that ASAP! #2: It's PLAYOFF TIME. Stay tuned for more information about Fall Playoffs as we prepare to host and participate in post-season games for all of our teams. Students wishing to attend home games (all seasons) will need to be SOCIALLY ELIGIBLE. Every Monday Administrators will pull a grade report from Schoology. Students who have 3+ Es will be deemed ineligible to attend Towson sports events and other extra-curricular activities that week. The list resets every Monday, so students are encouraged to make sure they are monitoring their grades.
As you look through this edition of the SMORE, please take note of several opportunities for parent learning and engagement. Check out the learning opportunities for parents through: Digital Citizenship Advocacy, Caregiver Workshops, and Parent University (all referenced below).
If you aren't already, consider getting involved in PTSA or one of our incredible Boosters clubs. We value all of you who have given your time to supporting our students and thank all you for donating your time, money, and attention to growing and improving the Towson Community.
We are ALL-In on finishing quarter 1 strong. Have a great weekend Towson!
It’s a great day to be a 5-Star General!

Student Supports & Resources
Students can receive extra support afterschool via Coach Class and Peer Tutoring. Coach Class is offered by each teacher, each week. Free Peer Tutoring is offered throughout the week by students and advisors of our national honor societies. All supports begin next week unless otherwise noted. BCPS also offers all high school students with free teen therapy through Talkspace.
Attendance Matters
Research has shown that attendance is a leading predictor of academic achievement and adult success. Students who find attending school important are more likely to attain goals like attending trade school, college, or getting a job. By showing up to school every day, students develop a positive work ethic and prepare for future success by developing healthy and productive habits.
Our attendance goals this year are for students to maintain at least a 94% attendance rate and to reduce chronic absenteeism. A student that misses 10% or more of school days in chronically absent. By missing just 2 days a month, a student will be chronically absent. Use the "Attendance Tracker" and "Parent Tips" below to support your student in maintaining satisfactory attendance. Additionally, we will send parents/guardians a "Weekly Attendance Report" each Friday afternoon so you can track your student's daily and period attendance.
Absent notes must be turned in within 5 days from the student returning to school. Please review the Towson High School 2025-2026 Operating Procedures document ("Attendance" section) for information on Absent notes, including how to submit them on FOCUS. Teachers are not required to provide makeup work for unexcused absences.
