Eagles in the Know 🦅
Week of May 20 - 24
Reminders and updates from Mrs. Castillo -
As we reach the end of this school year, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the warm welcome I have received as the new principal at Blanton. It has been a privilege to get to know our wonderful students, dedicated staff, and supportive community. I'm proud to be part of the Blanton Eagle family!
Our students have shown incredible growth, not only academically but also socially and emotionally. Our amazing teachers have provided many opportunities this year for our students. Our students were able to represent Blanton at the UIL competition and came back with numerous medals. Our choir and Strings students performed at Texas Live, Six Flags, MLK Celebration, and the Center for Visual and Performing Arts. Our art students had their art displayed at the Arlington Museum of Art and AT&T Stadium. We also had an amazing Living Museum and Talent Show! Coach Hobbs organized what some called, "the best Field Day Blanton has ever had!"
I also want to thank you for your support with our events! From attending our events to donating candy, and volunteering for our events. Math-o-ween, Winter Concert, Science Night, Donuts with Dudes, Coffee with the Principal, Open House, and our different parent learning opportunities were possible and successful because of your support.
I'm excited about the future of our school and the opportunities that lie ahead. I look forward to continuing our journey together, building on our successes, and making our next school year even better.
I understand that change is not always easy. Please know that any changes that have been made this year have been made with the students' best interests in mind. My guarantee to you is that as we continue to grow together, the students' best interest will always be the priority. If you have questions or comments don't hesitate to contact me. If you would like to send me a message, please send me an email at mcastil6@aisd.net.
Wishing you all a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer break!

General information and reminders

Parking
- We want to remind parents not to park in front of the school (Fire lane or by the school's front entrance) at any time during the day. Please use the parking spots. Last week an ambulance was called to our school and it slowed their response. They didn't have a place to park in front of the school because during lunch time many cars were parked by the fire lane or front of the school's (sidewalk). Again, that is not a parking spot and we would appreciate your help to ensure the safety of our students and staff. When dropping off your student in the morning, if you are in the car line do not get out of your vehicle and delay traffic. If you need to talk or tend to your child please park your vehicle. We have car drop off in the front of the school and on the north side of the school.
Arrival
- When dropping the students in the morning in front of the school at 7:45 am, a staff member will be holding a stop sign to have every four cars stop and let their student out of their car and ensure that the students walk to the campus sidewalk safely. The staff with the stop sign will turn it around (sign will say slowly) indicating to slowly continue to move your car until the next four cars that need to drop off students stops. Please do not park your car by fire lane or side of the school. This causes a safety issue when students are being dropped off and the causes the flow of traffic to slow down.
- If the students arrive after 8:20 a.m., parents must park their car and come into the office to sign them in; this is done for their safety.
- We will start a new procedure for tardy student sign in and early student pick up. We will provide parents with a QR code that will be posted outside our school and posted on our website. More instructions and information will be coming soon.
Lunch
- If you are coming to eat with your student please limit the visitors to two per student. Our cafeteria is small and it is getting crowded during lunch time making it difficult to have enough space to accommodate all visitors.
- When sending lunch for your student please remember to Dojo your students teacher so that the teacher can have the student pick up the lunch on their way to the cafeteria.
Dismissal
- Parents please remember to bring your dismissal card when picking up your students from school. If you need a new dismissal card please come to the office to pick up one. Please make sure that your student doesn't bring toys or candy to school. Please reach out if you have questions.
