Update from Superintendent Shuldiner
Dear Lansing School District Community,
I hope that this newsletter finds you well. As always, it is a pleasure to email you all.
I hope you are all enjoying the Labor Day Weekend. What a nice way to ease back into the school year. I am actually writing this week's update from my sister's apartment in Chicago. The long weekend was a great chance to come out and see her and some friends. I always forget just how easy a drive it is from Lansing to the Windy City. We went on a boat ride, walked miles of the lake shore, and ate way too much. I really do hope that all of you were able to take some kind of break this holiday weekend. It is always so important to relax and reset for the week ahead.
As for the district, what a great second week. I got to visit more schools, talk to more teachers, students, and parents. I was able to see some more of our new facilities. There really is a palpable sense of positive "vibes" throughout the district. And nowhere did I see that more than at our first football game of the season. Everett vs Sexton is always fun. But this year seemed more so. The game was close until the end. Both teams played well. The stands were fuller than they have been in a while. Sexton had a band and played the national anthem. The general "vibe" of the stadium was positive and safe. I would like to thank all the people who made the game experience enjoyable, especially our safety and security crews and Advance Peace. Whenever you get hundreds, if not thousands, of people together, there is always a chance of something going wrong. But as I walked through the stands and the fields, I was greeted with positivity and a sense of community.
I want to give a special shout-out to the student sections of both teams. It is always wonderful to see our students rooting for each other. And the cheers and chants were respectful. The worst thing I heard was a refrain of "you can't do that" when the other team was penalized. And that is pretty harmless fun. I also want to give a shout-out to Eastern for winning their first football game against Eaton Rapids. I look forward to watching the Quakers as they open their home season next week. I hope that all of you reading get a chance to attend at least one sporting event this Fall, whether it's football, soccer, volleyball, or tennis. Tickets can be easily purchased online. And if you see me walking the stadium, gymnasium, or field, please come up and say hi. I really love to talk with the community when I am at the games.
Thank you so much for all of your incredible support of our district. Together, we will do great things for the children of Lansing.

The Importance of Parent Teacher Organizations
Research consistently shows that students whose parents are actively engaged in their education perform better both academically and socially. When parents participate — whether through attending school events, staying connected with their child’s learning, or going above and beyond by joining their school's parent-teacher group — students are more motivated, achieve higher grades, and develop stronger confidence in their abilities.
The partnership between home and school sends a powerful message: education matters, and your child’s success is a shared priority. By working together, parents and educators create an environment where students feel supported, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential.
If you haven't already, consider joining your school's PTO, PTA, or PTSA this year.
