A Message from Principal Martinez

Dear Switlik Families,

We have had a wonderful first 10 days of school! It has been incredible seeing our Dolphins back in the building, settling into their routines, and filling our hallways with energy and enthusiasm.

A special note of appreciation goes out to our incredible staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure every student is warmly welcomed, well cared for, and safe each day. As part of our commitment to student safety, we have already successfully completed two campus safety drills to ensure our students and staff know exactly how to respond in an emergency. We will continue to conduct these drills on a monthly basis.

Please take a moment to review this week’s newsletter for important updates and upcoming events. Here is a quick look at what is included:

  • Drop-Off & Pick-Up Guidelines: Important traffic safety procedures to help keep car lines moving smoothly and keep all students safe.

  • F.A.S.T. Progress Monitoring (PM1) Calendar: Upcoming assessment dates for 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade ELA and Math starting August 25th.

  • School Advisory Council (SAC) Meetings: Details for our first meeting on Tuesday, August 25th at 8:45 AM (in the SSE Conference Room or virtually), along with the full schedule of meeting dates for the 2026–2027 school year.

  • Specials Spotlight: Highlights on what our students are learning and creating in Art, Library, Music, PE, and Science.

  • At-Home Reading Tips: Practical reminders and strategies to support your child's reading growth at home.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in making this school year a success!

Please review the updated drop-off and pick-up procedures below to ensure a smooth and safe process for everyone!

Traffic & Lane Rules

  • Use Both Lanes: Drive in both available lanes to help reduce traffic back-ups on US1.

  • SRO Guidance: Follow all instructions from the School Resource Officer (SRO), who will direct cars to the lane closest to the curb.

  • Merging: Once your child exits the car, pull forward and merge safely into the two lanes.

  • No Parking in Drop-Off Lanes: Parking in drop-off areas or leaving your vehicle unattended in active lanes is strictly prohibited. Use designated parking spaces if leaving your car.

Morning Drop-Off (8:00 AM – 8:30 AM)

  • Drop-off runs strictly from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM.

  • Do not leave children unattended before 8:00 AM.

Afternoon Pick-Up (3:20 PM – 3:30 PM)

  • Pick-up runs strictly from 3:20 PM to 3:30 PM.

  • Do not arrive early for pick-up, as early arrivals cause congestion on US1.

  • Only adults included on the authorized contact list may pick up students.

General Safety

  • Always use crosswalks when walking on school grounds.

  • Follow SRO directions at all times.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our Dolphins safe every morning and afternoon!
