News from Principal Bunting
We had a wonderful turnout at last night's CAIS Celebrates Black History. Students beamed with pride as they showcased their projects. Photos from this event coming soon!
March 3rd-7th is Literacy Week. There will be school and district events to celebrate the importance of reading.
At CAIS:
- Classroom door decorating. This year's theme us Black authors or books featuring Black characters.
- Monday, March 3rd: Spotlight Author Kimarley Henry
- Tuesday, March 4th: Students are invited to dress as a character from one of the books highlighted on their classroom door.
- Thursday, March 6th: Spotlight Author Kenneth Oppel
- Friday, March 7th: "Cozy Up and Read" Students may dress in pajamas or comfy clothing and cozy up with a good book.
Cycle III District Assessments for reading and math will be administered Wednesday, March 5th-Thursday, March 12th . Please encourage scholars to get a good night's rest, eat a balanced breakfast, and show what they know!
Late arrivals and early pick-ups. Continue to communicate with the guidance office tbroxton@blmfld.org and homeroom teachers when students will be arriving to school late or picked up early. These arrangements should be for appointments only so that students may experience all that each school day has to offer.
We appreciate all that you to do support learning at CAIS!
Sincerely,
Ms. Bunting
News from the Nurse
The following letter was sent home with grade 5 girls on February 27th:
Dear Parents,
This spring, the CAIS/CAMS Nurses will be performing postural screenings in the Health/Nurse Office. The screenings will begin March 10th and will be complete prior to our April break.
Postural screenings will be for girls in 5th and 7th grade and boys in 8th grade.
Please advise girls to wear a sports bra or other bra for screening day. The shirt is removed by the student and a visual exam of the spine is done by the nurse.
Parents will be notified with a letter mailed home if any of the findings are abnormal and will be asked to seek further evaluation from their own physician.
If you have any questions regarding this screening, please contact the school nurses. More details available regarding these screenings on the school website. If you do not want your child screened, please notify the school nurse in writing.
Sincerely,
Natacha Nestor RN, Carmen Arace Nurse
