Calling All Students for WIN Wednesday!

Students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the flex room located in the learning commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. In addition students can also utilize the WIN program to make up tests they may have missed. Students can get this approved through their teacher ahead of time and the test will be ready for them to take during WIN. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

Wrestling: The Eastview Wrestling Team competed in the Boys Individual State Tournament at Xcel Center February 28-March 1. Landon Odegard lost a tough first round match at 215 and unfortunately did not get a wrestleback opportunity. Pierce Lewis at 172 had to face the top ranked wrestler in the opening round and although did get a wrestleback opportunity he did not advance. Jack Bauer at 285 advanced to the State Semis before falling to the eventual State Champion followed by a loss to the Section Champion in the Consolation Semis. He ended his amazing career with a pin over his Shakopee opponent to place 5th and earn a spot on the podium as a State Placewinner! Spencer Lee at 133 had a fantastic tournament as well who after a 2nd round loss made his way back through the consolation part of the bracket with some extremely exciting matches and advanced to the 3rd Place Match and ended up placing 4th in the State! What as outstanding finish to his career after overcoming lots of time missed due to injuries over the years. Congrats to all of our wrestlers and coaches on another awesome season!

Swim and Dive: The Boys Swim and Dive competed this week at Two Rivers High School in the Section Swim and Dive Championships. They had several great performances with many individuals dropping time for season or career bests! The Lightning had three 3rd place finishes, just missing a trip to state. Those included Aidan Fitch in the 50 Free who missed 2nd place by .08 of a second, Lincoln Joyner in the 100 Butterfly who missed by .67 of a second and the 200 Free Relay of Fitch, Joyner, Ethan Beckman and Maxwell Chen missed by just .55 of a second. Congrats to all team members on a great season!

CI and PI Hockey: Our Dakota Hawks teams are both STATEBOUND. CI had to win two exciting playoff games last week to qualify including a thrilling 3-1 at St. Cloud. PI also clinched a State berth and both of their State Tournaments will be held March 7-8 at Coon Rapids. Here is the info including brackets for this coming weekend.
