Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3| WEEK 6| 29TH AUG 2025
Today, our Pre-Primary and Year Four students came together to celebrate the Feast of St John the Baptist, a powerful figure in our faith known for preparing the way for Jesus with courage and humility. St John’s life reminds us to speak truth, live simply, and always point others toward Christ.
Our students marked the occasion with prayer, reflection, and joyful activities that honoured his mission and message. It was a beautiful moment of faith and community.
Lord God,
You called St John the Baptist to prepare the way for Your Son,
with boldness, truth, and deep humility.
Help us to follow his example -
to speak with courage,
to live with integrity,
and to point others toward the light of Christ.
May we be faithful in our mission,
joyful in our service,
and humble in our hearts.
Amen.
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians and Staff,
Celebrating Excellence in the Arts and Sports at Holy Rosary
This week, we proudly congratulate our Holy Rosary Choir for their outstanding performance at the Performing Arts Festival at the Italian Centre on Monday. Their dedication, harmony, and spirit truly reflected the heart of our school community. Bravo to all involved and Mrs Kirwan.
We also extend warm congratulations to our Holy Rosary Netball Club who won the Large Primary School Clubs Award at the Netball Association Awards for their continued engagement and enthusiasm. Their outstanding attendance at PNA meetings, commitment to the development of coaches and umpires, and dedication to the accreditation pathway are a testament to the strength and unity of our sporting community. A special shout-out goes to Wesley Strong, who made the state Netball team!
School Access Update – Keeping Our Children Safe
To enhance safety on our school grounds, please note the updated access times for the rear gates:
- Open: 8:10 AM
- Auto Locked: 9:15 AM
- Reopen: 2:50 PM
- Auto-lock: Shortly after 3:30 PM
These changes help ensure a secure environment during school hours and prevent uninvited visitors and damage after hours. There is an intercom for visitors during the day. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children safe.
Student Voice in Action
Our Class Leaders have been actively representing student voices. Recent requests included:
- Easier access to the oval via the basketball courts – fencing completed.
- More sports equipment for Years 1 and 2 – we’re happy to report that new equipment was issued today!
- Cleaner school grounds and easier access to bins for upper students – which arrived today too..
Thank you to our students for having a voice and improving their school.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards,
Michael O'Dwyer

The carnival will take place on the school oval, beginning at approximately 9:10am.

The outline of events for both the Junior and Senior Carnivals will be published next week on Seesaw.
Parents are warmly invited to attend, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated:
- Senior Carnival (Years 3–6): If you would like to help, please email Rob Flexman through the administration office at admin@hrs.wa.edu.au. This carnival requires many helpers, so your support would make a big difference. Why not grab the best seat in the house as a timer, or get in the thick of the action as a marshal? Please let me know what role you would like to take on —thank you in advance!
- Junior Carnival (Pre-Primary to Year 2): If you would like to assist, please email your child’s classroom teacher through the administration office at admin@hrs.wa.edu.au
We look forward to seeing you all there for what should be a fantastic day.
P.S. A reminder that a few running tops from the recent CPSSA Cross Country Carnival are still outstanding. Could all squad members please return theirs, washed, and in a plastic bag with your child’s name and class by the end of next week?

🖌️ Exploring Texture & Form: Year 5 & 6 Art Club Projects
🎨✨ Year 5 & 6 Art Club students are hard at work creating stunning contemporary plaster pieces, inspired by artist Werner Bronkhorst. So much focus, texture, and creativity on display! 🖌️
Thank you again to our wonderful community for a tremendous Book Week! Students and staff are enjoying the magnificent art in the library, and it has been great talking to the students about their costumes, art and what they enjoyed about their week.
Chess has recommenced with Round 3 played yesterday. There are 8 students left to play in Week 7 and the games are getting very exciting. Chess is held on Wednesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime so please do ensure your child is not taken out of school at these times, unless they are sick.
This week we have been revising relaxation strategies in the library to remind everyone to take a breath, enjoy each day and look after themselves. Breathing, muscle relaxation, visualisation and counting backwards were all strategies practised with many students enjoying the experience and the moment of calm.
Have a lovely weekend.

During the last 2 weeks, Friendology has been revised in every classroom. I am hoping you have been able to discuss your child’s learning with them and log into URStrong’s excellent website to watch some of the resources together. This week’s parent content is below……
Fiery Friendships: Friendship Fact #1 reminds our students that no friendship (or relationship) is perfect. It’s very normal to have conflict in a friendship (Friendship Fires!) and also very normal that some friendships are little ‘fiery’ than others. Here’s an article with lots of tips to support your child in a high-conflict friendship.
Thursday 11th of September is RUOK? Day. Students are invited to wear their sport uniform with a splash of yellow (hair accessories, t-shirt, shoelaces, socks, hats) to recognise this important message. All week we will be talking about looking after ourselves and each other, focusing on healthy friendships.
Our Year 6 Christian Service Council Group is currently collecting donation for our local Vinnies pantry. If you can help in any way, donations of long life food can be left in the tub in your child’s classroom before Thursday of Week 9. Thank you!
Braveheart Term 4 programs are now released with 10% off for early bookings. These external group programs are wonderful for developing self-esteem and confidence and parents can attend information sessions online here https://www.braveheartwellbeing.com.au/programs

Student Achievements
Exciting news — Wesley has been selected as a training partner for the SSWA U12 Boys State Netball Team for 2025! It’s a huge achievement and a great reflection of all the hard work he puts into the sport. As an U11 player, he’s also one of the youngest in the team, which means he’ll get the chance to trial again next year.
