A Message From Mrs. Salas:

It was a wonderful first week with our students in the building. We are looking forward to our first full week of school.

In an effort to reduce volume on the morning car rider line and to support parents needing earlier drop off, limited staff will be available to receive students starting at 7:10 AM on Monday, August 17th. Students will sit in the cafeteria and wait until regular arrival time at 7:25. They will then be released to eat breakfast or go to class. Please unload your student as we will have limited staff at the door. Students with behavior struggles or needing high levels of supervision should not be dropped off at 7:10 AM and should wait until normal drop off at 7:25AM. We hope your family takes advantage of this early arrival opportunity!

Our school announcements begin at 7:50 a.m. and our instruction begins promptly at 7:55 a.m. Staff members on car rider duty should report to begin instruction at 7:55. If your child arrives after 7:55 a.m., please park and sign in your child at the front office. Please do not leave your child unattended on the front porch.

Additional dismissal signs requested at Meet the Teacher night were sent home on Friday, make sure to check your student's backpack.

Lunch will not be free for students, unless your family qualify. Remember to apply online for free and reduced lunch. Even if your child qualified last year, you need to re-apply every year. APPLY HERE: https://www.myschoolapps.com/

Reminders

Arrival/Parking:

For everyone’s safety, please do not park in front of the school and cross the car rider line. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!

Backpacks:

Students should bring their backpack every day to school.
They should have two backpack tags (Smart tag and regular tag).
It's important to keep both tags attached to their backpack as we use them for dismissal daily.
When students do not have a tag, they slow down our dismissal procedures resulting in late buses or waiting longer in car rider line.

Cell phone use during car rider line :

For the safety of all our students and staff, we kindly remind you to refrain from using your cell phone while in the car rider line. Distracted driving can lead to accidents, and we want to ensure that dismissal time is as safe and efficient as possible.
Please remain focused on the road and on the surroundings as you wait to pick up your child. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in helping us maintain a secure environment for everyone. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

School Hours:

School hours are 7:55 to 3:10 again this year.
Instruction will begin promptly at 7:55. Students who arrive after 7:55 will be counted tardy.
Doors open at 7:25 the first three days.

Tardy Students

After the first week of school, students must arrive before 7:55AM to be on time to class.
Students arriving after 7:55AM must be checked in by a parent or guardian in the front office.
Students eating breakfast at school should arrive no later than 7:45AM

Dismissal:

Dismissal will begin early the first couple of days of school.
Please be patient as we work through our car rider line process, as parents learn the traffic pattern, and as bus drivers learn their routes.
All car riders will need the 25-26 car rider sign. You can request an additional sign here.
Our number one priority is for all students arrive to and from school safely.
Parents can request additional car rider signs, these will be placed in students' backpacks after the second week of school.

Lunch Visitors:

To allow our students to get acclimated to school and to learn procedures, we will not have any lunch visitors until August 24th.
Parents are welcome to sign up to come and eat with their child using the same procedures as last year.

Three years ago, Runyan earned its first B rating in history. Since then, our Roadrunners have continued to work, grow, and move forward. We have maintained that B year after year.

New Car Rider Procedures

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, we will have new procedures for families who arrive early and wait in their vehicles before car rider dismissal begins.

If you arrive early to wait for car rider dismissal, please follow these procedures:

Park/wait only on the right side of the driveway closest to the school, leaving enough space for vehicles to safely drive through.
No parking or waiting will be allowed on the left side of the driveway. This area must remain clear at all times to provide access for fire trucks and other emergency vehicles.
The middle driveway entrance must remain accessible for early student pick-ups and delivery vehicles, including UPS and FedEx.

These procedures apply specifically to families arriving early to wait for car rider dismissal and are designed to maintain a clear and safe path for vehicles and emergency personnel.

Walkers

Walkers are defined as students who will be walking to school instead of riding in a car. For safety, all walkers should use the school sidewalks and enter through the main entrance.

Bus Information

Click the link below to register for the bus and to find out your child’s bus number. We recommend you complete this process even if you think your child will not ride the bus.

Please allow up to 3-5 days for your child's route to take effect. At the beginning of the year the volume of route changes are higher than normal therefore we appreciate your patience.
