Costume guidelines for Halloween Costume guidelines for Halloween

User uploaded image

We are excited to see students in costumes on Halloween! In order to make the day a success, we want to go over a few guidelines. Most importantly, all costumes must be school appropriate.

The following items are not allowed:

  • Masks, face coverings or anything that impedes vision

  • Weapons of any kind (real or toy)

  • Anything that promotes drugs or alcohol

  • Anything that involves ethnic or racial stereotypes

Please remember that this is still a school day. Students are expected to fully participate in each class throughout the day. Students should bring a change of clothing, in case their costume is deemed inappropriate or becomes distracting to the learning process. We are looking forward to everyone following the guidelines, coming up with creative costumes, and having fun!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Students attending the World Language Field Trip on Friday should NOT wear costumes of any kind
  • The same costume guidelines applys for the Halloween Party on Friday, October 30.

Orchestra and Band earn honors Orchestra and Band earn honors

On Wednesday, September 30, several Maple Orchestra and Band students auditioned for the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District 7 Honor Orchestra and Band. All of our students performed well, and the audition process itself helped them grow as musicians through their preparation and hard work.

We are proud to announce that the following students were selected to perform in the ILMEA District 7 State Honor Orchestra and Band on November 14 at Evanston Township High School! These highly selective ensembles bring together some of the finest middle school orchestra and band students in the region. With increased participation and strong competition this year, Maple will be well represented, and we are incredibly proud of our students and their accomplishments!

Be part of Legacy Walk at new stadiums Be part of Legacy Walk at new stadiums

As part of the stadium renovations at Glenbrook North High School and Glenbrook South High School, the district is creating welcoming outdoor spaces designed to celebrate community, connection, and Glenbrook pride for generations to come.

The Legacy Walk at each stadium will provide students, families, staff, alumni and community members with the opportunity to become a permanent part of Glenbrook history by purchasing a personalized brick to be installed at either the Glenbrook North or Glenbrook South stadium prior to the first home game of the Fall 2027 season.

The bricks will celebrate the memories, accomplishments, traditions, and school spirit that have shaped the Glenbrooks. They also provide an opportunity to honor someone special while helping build lasting spaces for future generations of Spartans and Titans.

The deadline to order a brick is March 1. Please contact Ms. Charmaine Rasavong with questions at crasavong@glenbrook225.org or 847-486-4288.

File petitions Nov. 16-23

Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will have four school board seats to be filled at the Consolidated Election on April 6, 2027. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2031.

Candidates for the office of the school board can begin circulating nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating petitions runs from November 16-23, 2026.

A candidate for the school board is required to file the nominating petitions, Statement of Candidacy, and receipt for filing their Statement of Economic Interests with the applicable county election clerk and not with the school board secretary or the administrative offices of the school district. The county clerk may have petition forms available, or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website.

Candidates may also want to consult the “2027 Candidate’s Guide,” which can be downloaded from the Illinois State Board of Elections website, or contact the county clerk or board of election commissioners regarding the requirements of filing. Candidates and voters can get information about District 30 from our website and learn about being a school board member from the Illinois Association of School Boards at: iasb.com/elections.

Candidates who are interested in seeking endorsement from the District 30 School Board Caucus should contact Katie Schick (kateschick0609@gmail.com) by Friday, October 16. The School Board Caucus is a committee of District 30 residents that includes families both with and without children enrolled in Willowbrook, Wescott and Maple schools. The Caucus's role is to source, screen and endorse potential school board candidates. To be considered by the Caucus, candidates will need to complete a detailed application as well as an interview. If you are interested in learning more about joining the Caucus, please contact Katie.
