November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month
In 2007, Congress officially designated November to shine a light on the experiences of young people facing homelessness. This month, we focus on education, advocacy, and community support to ensure every student has a stable, safe environment to learn and thrive. Join us in raising awareness and supporting youth in our community all month long!
Did You Know? Supporting Our Unhoused Youth
The Reality: Housing instability is often invisible. Many students continue to attend class daily while facing severe challenges with shelter, transportation, and basic necessities.
By the Numbers: As of June 2025, more than 60,000 students in LA County were identified as experiencing homelessness.
Our Commitment: Schools and community partners play a vital role. Together, we can create a supportive network where every student feels safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.
Why Awareness Matters
Reduce Stigma: Build greater understanding around student homelessness.
Recognize Needs: Identify students and families who may need extra support.
Connect to Resources: Help families access essential community and school tools.
Promote Stability: Support continuous learning and educational success.
Awareness is the first step! Connection and support are what turn awareness into action.
