Snow Days/AMI
With the predicted winter weather headed our way this weekend, we want to be proactive and reach out in case we have any AMI (Alternative Means of Instruction) days next week. As we stand right now, we have 3 more traditional "snow" days that the district will use before using AMI days. Should we be out of school beyond Wednesday due to the weather, Thursday and each day after that, would be an AMI day. With that said, we want to share with you what an AMI day at PHS will look like.
- Any school closure information will be communicated by Central Office administrators. When that communication is sent out, they will also specify when it is an AMI day.
- Once families have been notified of an AMI day, students can login to Canvas.
- Students will find their classes, and complete the assignment for each class for the day.
- Teachers will be available to respond to questions via email or the Rooms app during normal school hours.
- Assignments are due upon return to school or the next in-person class period. Student attendance is based on the completion and submission of AMI assignments.
Our hope is that if we do have some inclement weather days, it doesn't extend past Wednesday. However, in the event that we are out for an extended period, we wanted to provide a little more clarity on AMI days. Please stay safe and warm this weekend.
Juniors & Seniors
The Early College Partnership (ECP) is an early-entrance-to-college program located on the campus of St. Louis Community College (STLCC) – Wildwood. Depending on the pathway selected, students attend ECP full or part-time for one or two years, replacing traditional high school courses taken during the junior and or senior year(s). While in ECP, students are enrolled in a curriculum consisting of college coursework taught by professors at STLCC – Wildwood. In addition to earning a high school diploma, upon successful completion of coursework, students are able to earn an associate of arts degree or meet the Core 42 Missouri Transfer Requirements. This is a unique and innovative opportunity for students to socialize and study in a learning community of peers.
For those interested in learning more about the program, a Virtual Parent/Student Informational Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4th, at 6:00 pm. Please use the following link to access the meeting: https://meet.google.com/nyw-sfbj-btr. Those interested in applying should complete the attached application and return it to Mrs. Reeder (Guidance Office) by Friday, February 20th.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Students should have a strong foundation of Geometry and Algebra II before applying, but the ECP Committee looks at the overall picture of a student’s academic performance by considering the following:
- Completed MVR3 ECP application
- Classroom performance (Grades in courses taken in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades)
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Students with a GPA below 3.0 may apply but require a recommendation from an MVR3 staff member)
- Official student attendance and disciplinary record
- ACCUPLACER scores (Reading – 250, English – 250, Advanced Algebra and Functions - 231) (If needed, use the following link to sign up for ACCUPLACER testing at PHS on Thursday, February 12th: https://forms.gle/j5CZVxnjX8KoiMvh6)
or
ACT scores (Math – 22, English – 18, Reading – 18) - An essay written by the student
- A signed agreement to abide by the expectations and responsibilities of the MVR3/STLCC Early College Partnership
