This means that every student, regardless of household income, will have access to nutritious meals each school day at no cost.

College and Career Corner
Service Hours
Students can plan ahead and send an email to a former elementary or middle school teacher and ask to help organize their room, clean, make copies, assist in the class or anything else to give back to them for all the ways in which they gave to the student when they were in their classroom! On LOHS half day, Thursday, October 30, AFTER studying for exams, plan to volunteer! After completing the hours, submit them (within the 30 day window) and list the teacher's email address as the contact for verification.
Five Trunk or Treats are in need of volunteers to set up, pass out candy, and participate in crafts over the next two weeks! Check out x2VOL for all these and more fun festive fall events for service!

NOCC NEWS
What is the North Oakland Community Coalition?
The North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC) is a nonprofit organization located right here in Lake Orion. We support the Dragon community by promoting mental and physical health for youth and families.
We are excited to continue our partnership with Lake Orion High School to support students and their well-being. You may have seen us around campus before promoting Youth Action Board (YAB), our student organization, or with our “Smart Dragons Don’t Drink” and “No Vape November” campaigns, as well as mental health initiatives designed to empower students to make healthy choices and support each other!
Keep an eye out for NOCC news each week in this newsletter. You can also visit NOCC’s website for more information about who we are, what we do, as well as mental health and substance use resources!
LOHS Parent Group
Thank you to everyone who donated supplies, money and/or time to help feed our staff during Parent/Teacher Conferences, we could not do it without ALL of you!
Going forward it is the goal of the LOHS Parent Group to be able to do something special once a month to show our appreciation for LOHS Staff. If you would like to donate or contribute to future appreciation ideas (like the Orange/Halloween theme this month), please use the QR codes below.
Term 1 - AP Exam Registration
Note: A ParentSquare message was posted on Friday, September 19 to all families that have students currently taking Term 1 AP classes. This message included instructions on how to sign-up to take an AP exam. Registration must be completed and paid for by November 10, 2025.
If you have any questions regarding AP exams please reach out to Mr. Kiner at anthony.kiner@lok12.org or Mrs. Bell at christine.bell@lok12.org.
School Dismissal Manager
LOHS utilizes School Dismissal Manager (SDM) for reporting absences and early dismissals. It is accessible through SDM Website or smartphone app - no need to call the school.
When signing your child out early, please remind them to check their email for the SDM confirmation. They will need to show this to their teacher and the front door attendance clerk when leaving.
If you need help logging in or have questions, please reach out to Ms. Patricia Humes in the Attendance office.
Athletics
Looking for information about participating as a student athlete, the athletic schedule, or how to purchase tickets to sporting events, please visit the athletics website: Athletics Calendar - Lake Orion Community Schools (lakeorionschools.org)
If you want more information regarding all things related to the Class of 2026 and Senior Year, go to the LOHS Senior Class of 2026 website. The Senior Bulletin along with important dates and much more will be found on that page.
Distinguished Dragon Award
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or even their own colleague. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
To nominate a LOCS employee, click here.
LOHS Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
To help keep our morning traffic flowing smoothly, please ensure your student exits the car promptly when you pull into the drop-off loop. The loop is designed for quick drop-off and pick-up only. If you need a few extra moments with your student, we kindly ask that you use the parking spaces located in the loop instead. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the line moving safely and efficiently for all families.
- LOHS drop off and pick up entrance for students is from SCRIPPS RD only.
- Please pull forward in the student drop-off loop as far as you can before having your student exit/enter the vehicle.
- DO NOT use the Staff Lot or Bus Loop for picking up or dropping off students.
- Students are NO longer allowed to park in the lower pool lot.
