🌷April Newsletter🌷
✨A Message from Mrs. Hemmann✨
Hello Dayse Baker Families,
This time of year brings a mix of excitement and reflection. One of the greatest rewards of being a principal is watching our students grow, gain confidence, and prepare for their next steps. The growth we see throughout the year is truly incredible.
As you begin preparing for next school year, please remember to complete your online registration for each student.
As we move through April and into May, students will be participating in end-of-year state and local assessments. Classroom teachers will communicate specific testing dates and times. When possible, we ask that appointments be scheduled outside of testing windows, as students tend to perform best when testing alongside their class.
You can play an important role in helping your child feel prepared and confident during testing. Consistent routines matter—especially sleep, nutrition, and overall healthy habits. Research shows that students perform best when they get 9–12 hours of sleep each night and start their day with a protein-based breakfast. Even small routines can make a big difference in focus, stamina, and overall performance.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we finish the year strong.
Sincerely,
Jenna Hemmann

🎨✨ Mineral Area College (MAC) Art Show ✨🎨
Dear DBLC Team,
I’m excited to share some great news and invite you to help spread the word to our talented students!
This spring, Farmington School District will be hosting its first-ever district-wide art show on March 18, 2026, followed by the Mineral Area College (MAC) Art Show on April 24, 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity and represent Dayse Baker Learning Center.
I know I get to work with many of our students in art classes here at DBLC—but not all of them—so I’m reaching out to invite any students who would like to submit artwork for these shows to participate.
Important Details:
Artwork submission deadline: March 1, 2026
District Art Show date: March 18, 2026
MAC Art Show date: April 24, 2026
District show categories (limited to 10 pieces per grade):
Drawing
Painting
Mixed Media / 2D
Sculpture
Ceramics
Students may submit artwork they created in an art class, another class, at home, during study hall, or even during one of those “I was supposed to be doing something else but accidentally made art” moments—as long as it’s school-appropriate and student-created, we’d love to see it!
While the district show does have category limits, please know that all artwork submitted will be displayed throughout the district, and I also make it a priority to showcase our students’ amazing work during spring parent-teacher conferences.
If you have students who love art, create independently, or simply want to try submitting a piece, please encourage them to bring their artwork to me by March 1st. I would love to see and celebrate the creativity happening across our building!
Thank you for supporting our students and helping make this historic first district art show a success. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Creatively yours,
Amber Wells
