November 2026
Message from the Principal
Greetings SMS Families,
With November just around the corner, so is Veterans Day, and with it our annual SMS Veterans Day events. This tradition has quickly become one of the most anticipated parts of the fall at Springville Middle School.
On Thursday, November 6, our 8th-grade students, led by Social Studies teacher Mr. Karb, will honor local veterans as part of their unit on the major wars in American history. Students will take part in a veterans panel discussion with members of several local organizations. The panel gives students a rare chance to hear firsthand about veterans' sacrifices, what Veterans Day means to them, the challenges many face today, and why honoring those who serve matters.
This is always a special day for our students and staff, full of respect, learning, and gratitude. We’re proud to continue this growing tradition and look forward to another meaningful celebration of our community’s veterans.
Go Griffins!
Dr. Matthew Fisher

The High School Key Club is conducting a donation drive at Springville Middle and High Schools for Blue Star Mothers, an organization that sends care packages to servicepeople in our Armed Forces overseas for the holidays. Below are lists of items we are collecting at the Middle School:

Powdered drink mix – individual packets (Liquid IV, Gatorade, etc.)
Because of overseas shipping regulations, donated items need to be of the specific types and sizes indicated.

Modified Football Shuts Out Cleveland Hill, Improves to 6-0
October 21, 2026
Springville Modified Football wraps up an incredible season undefeated with a perfect 7-0 record!
The Griff's closed out the season with a 26-0 shutout victory over Lake Shore in Game 7.
It was a slow start for the Griffs, but this team stayed together, continued to work hard, and trusted one another. They showed that success doesn't always come easy, but when you stay committed, support your teammates, and keep pushing forward, hard work pays off.
Proud of this group and everything they accomplished this season. The 7-0 record is something to celebrate, but the teamwork, growth, and commitment these players showed along the way are what make this season special.
It's not about being the best. It's about getting better every day.
Congratulations, Griffs! What a season!

October 3, 2026
The SGI Cross Country team competed at the 2026 McQuaid Invitational on October 3 at Genesee Valley Park. The meet featured a very deep field from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Canada, and beyond.
The team had an outstanding day. In modified action, Emma Barrio was Springville Girls' top finisher, and Sawyer Fuhrman was the top modified Boys finisher.
Modified Boy's Soccer
October 1, 2026
The Springville Modified Boys soccer team secured a strong 3–1 home victory against Holland!
Santo led the attack with an impressive two-goal performance, while Weston added another to seal the win. The victory was built on a fantastic team effort from back to front—our midfield played a crucial role in controlling the game and transitioning the ball out of our defensive end, while the defense held tough all afternoon, limiting Holland to just a single goal.
Overall, a great team win. On to the next one!
The Springville Modified Boys soccer team brought home another great home win Monday, taking down Lackawanna 2–0 in an awesome total team effort!
Roklan R. put Springville on the board first with a nice goal set up by an assist from Santo F. Santo then sealed the win with a goal of his own, assisted by Anderson B.
It was a fantastic, hard-fought game all around. The defense put on a total lockdown performance to secure the shutout and keep Lackawanna off the board completely. The midfield controlled the pace of the game and kept the transitions smooth, while our strikers never stopped working and kept the pressure on all game long.
A resilient, top-to-bottom team win for the boys. Great job, Springville!

The 8th graders made Athlete's Meals, the 7th graders made breakfast dishes, and the 6th graders made smoothies. This was a great hands-on learning experience for students learning about health and nutrition.
