Happy September!
Our first full week of the school year!
We are excited to welcome kiddos back for their first full week of the school year. We have had a wonderful start to the year with plenty of sunshine, fun and engaging projects happening in each classroom, and our after school program in full swing. We look forward to seeing our families at community events coming up, detailed below! Reminder: if you have not yet sent in your updated paperwork to Tina, please do so ASAP!

Dates to Remember
- Fall Open House will be on Thursday, September 28th from 5 - 6 PM. All families are encouraged to come see your child's classroom, meet their teachers, and hear all about their days at school!
- Our first early release day of the year will be Monday, September 25th.
- Picture Day is coming, Wednesday September 28th. You should have already received information from Tina about ordering photos from Ember Photography - if you have not, please email tinayoung@mpsvt.org for info.
- The Montpelier Roxbury PIE (Partners in Education) will host the Fall Festival and Fun Run on Sunday, October 1st from 12:00 - 4:00. This is a fantastic event featuring live music, lots of activities for kids, face painting, and even a "celebrity dunk tank" with some familiar faces... maybe even from RVS! Hope to see you there.
Extracurricular clubs sharing information
The Black Bears Academy is sharing information for elementary students interested in playing or learning to play hockey. Find more information at www.BlackBearHockey.org.
Forest Friday has begun!
On Friday mornings from 9-11 AM, classes will be heading into the forest for opportunities to play and learn outside. This week, we enjoyed a scavenger hunt about different types of rocks from the North Branch Nature Center, as well as an opportunity to sort and classify the many types that children discovered. It was also a beautiful morning to explore the creek! Please remember to send appropriate gear with your child on Fridays: for now, boots or other shoes that won't be affected by mud or water, are helpful.
September Reading Challenge
Students in grades 1-4 are participating in a reading challenge for the month: BINGO! (Kinders, don't worry - you will complete a challenge with your class!). Look for BINGO sheets coming home today with different book categories to read. Kids are encouraged to think about their challenges as they visit the library on Fridays. Families are welcome to get involved: students have been asked to read on their own, with someone, or by listening! Readers should bring their boards back to school on Friday, September 29th for a prize. Happy reading!
