ISM-Character Strong
Please see a message from Ms. Weiss- ISM TEACHER:
"A Browning Bear is RESPECTFUL! A Browning Bear is KIND!
Hello, Browning families! In ISM, we are wrapping up our second week of practicing RESPECT. We are really digging in to what it means to show respect to ourselves and to others. We have practiced being SUPER HELPERS/UPSTANDERS and how we can take the courageous steps to stand up for what is right; we have discussed identifying our own emotions and how to help ourselves when we become dysregulated; and we have brainstormed and role played how to resolve conflicts when they arise.
Our Character Strong RESPECT curriculum reflects the best practices found in our UCS Parent and Student Handbook. To set the stage for achievement, ISM promotes "success skills" to help your student grow and succeed personally as well as academically. Specifically, we are remembering to treat others how they want to be treated, taking accountability for what we say and do, and positively communicating with others. Our aim is to help your student learn responsibility by experiencing the results of their own decisions. A Browning Bear knows "the choice is yours".
This week, we are still writing our school compact- listing what we need from our classmates and teachers in order to feel respected. Your student's challenge this week is to find ways to be a SUPER HELPER/UPSTANDER (for kindergarten through second grade) or to practice emotional regulation (third through fifth grade). Ask your student about their challenge so you can help them accomplish it. 🙂
We are stronger together and TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE WORLD A BRIGHTER PLACE!
