If you are under 18 years of age, you must obtain a work permit before starting a new job.
The following are the steps needed to obtain your Workers Permit:
- Obtain a job offer from an employer.
- Pick up a Work Permit application in Student Services
- Have the employer fill out the Promise of Employment section along with their signature.
- If you are 14 or 15, your doctor needs to sign the Physicians Certificate of Health section on the application.
- A parent/guardian signature is required.
- Sign the completed application, and bring it into the Student Services office or Chelsea in the Front office to complete the final steps, and you will receive your work permit.
Things to know:
- You cannot transfer a permit given for one job to another job. You will have to apply for another permit.
- If your employer is having you work at multiple locations, your permit needs to be on file at each location
- Your work permit is for 1 year, and will expire on the date issued. You will need to submit another application.
