Michigan Achievement Scholarship
Hello,
MI Student Aid is pleased to announce that it is partnering with the scholastic engagement company DistrictWON to help schools raise awareness of the Michigan Achievement Scholarship for high schoolers and especially seniors.
All Michigan high school seniors can earn a certificate or associate's degree tuition-free at their local community college, earn up to $27,500 at Michigan public or private university or earn up to $4,000 at a career training program. Students become eligible by simply completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
MI Student Aid would like as many students as possible to have an opportunity to access this funding.
Student Volunteer Needed
Dear High School Students and Parents/Guardians,
The district’s Sex Education Advisory Board (SEAB) is seeking two student representatives to join the existing board. A student’s seat was vacated, and we are looking to add two students to help ensure student voice is at the table when reviewing the curriculum and determining needs for sex education.
The district is required by law to have a Sex Education Advisory Board (SEAB). The advisory board shall do all of the following:
- Review program goals and objectives for pupil knowledge and skills that are likely to reduce the rates of sex, pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Review materials and methods of instruction used and make recommendations to the board of the school district for implementation. The advisory board shall take into consideration the school district's needs, demographics, and trends, including, but not limited to, teenage pregnancy rates, sexually transmitted disease rates, and incidents of student sexual violence and harassment.
The SEAB meets 2-4 times per year in the evenings around 5:30 pm. Student representatives are expected to attend the meetings and should commit to serving on the board for at least two years.
Minor students who apply to serve on the board will need parent permission to serve on the board.
If you are interested in applying, please complete the application by clicking on the link below.
The application closes at 5 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Thank you!

OHS Procedures & Practices
Cellphone Expectaitons at OHS
5209 Student Use of Cell Phone and Electronic Communication Devices:
OHS Student Cell Phone Classroom Procedures
To maintain a focused and engaging learning environment, the following procedures will be implemented:
Collection Process: At the start of each class, students will place their cell phones into an area in the classroom designated by the classroom teacher for the duration of class.
Accessibility in Emergencies: In case of an emergency, students will be granted permission to access their cell phones.
Device Settings: Students are required to silence or turn off their phones before placing them in the designated area.
Please note, students will have access to their cell phone during classroom transitions and lunch time.
Enforcement and Consequences
To ensure compliance with these expectations, the following steps will be taken if a student is either found with a cell phone after class has started or using a cell phone during class:
1st Occurrence:
Incident logged in PowerSchool by teacher
Parent/guardian contacted by teacher via email
Incident logs in PowerSchool are monitored by OHS Administration
2nd Occurrence:
Incident logged in PowerSchool by teacher
Parent/guardian contacted by teacher via email
Referral to the Dean of Students
Potential Course Consequences
Parent Communication from Administration
Restorative Practices
Prevention Program for violation
3rd Occurence:
Incident logged in PowerSchool
Parent/guardian contacted
Referral to the Dean of Students, resulting in detention or further consequences such as suspension
Classroom Assessment Expectations
On assessment days, any student caught with a communication device (cell phone, air pods, smart watches) will receive an automatic zero. Student will then be given consequences that follow the OHS Academic Integrity Policy.
Earbuds/Smart Watches Expectations
The use of earbuds & smart watches are restricted unless explicitly permitted by the teacher. Students must ensure that earbuds remain out of their ears and smart watches remain out of sight during class to prevent any potential distraction. Both of these items should remain in the student’s backpack.
By adhering to this expectation, we aim to create a more productive and immersive educational experience for all students at Oxford High School. We appreciate the cooperation of students, parents, and staff in upholding these guidelines.
