Principal's Message

Red Ribbon Week

This week we celebrate Red Ribbon Week as a reminder of the importance of making healthy, safe, and drug-free choices. Students are encouraged to participate in our daily dress-up themes to show their commitment to a healthy lifestyle and a drug-free future. Please refer to the flyer below for the schedule of dress-up days and join us in making this week a success!

Early Voting Reminder

As a reminder, Early Voting for the November 3 Election is underway now through Friday, October 30. Northside ISD has four propositions - A, B, C, and D - on the ballot. Visit nisd.net/bond26 for more information.

  • Polling Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM daily (Oct. 26–30)

  • Locations: Find an Early Voting site near you by clicking here.

Fall Fest

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in our Fall Fest! We had a larger-than-expected turnout, and it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families and engage with our community. Our student organizations served incredible food and showcased amazing talent, and the Drama Club did a fantastic job creating a memorable Haunted House experience! A special thank-you to Student Council and their sponsors, Ms. Lopez and Ms. Mikhail, for taking the lead in organizing this event.

AP Exam Registration Deadline

This Friday is the last day for students to register for an AP exam. Please see the flyer below for more information about registration. Ms. Ollendieck will be available in the foyer during both lunch periods to help students register. Students can register online and pay through MySchoolBucks, or they can pay Ms. Ollendieck directly with cash or check.

Tardy Updates

When students arrive at school after the tardy bell, they are expected to sign in and receive a tardy pass before heading to class.

We have implemented a new electronic check-in process that automatically sends an email notification to both the student and their primary guardian when a student arrives late. These notifications will also include the number of tardies the student has accumulated during the current nine-weeks grading period.

After a student's third tardy, Ms. Melton will receive a notification so she can follow up with the student and address the repeated tardies.

Senior Portraits – November 20th On Campus

Photography will be on campus November 20th to take senior portraits for the yearbook. All seniors must have their portrait taken to be included in the yearbook.

To schedule, visit Cady.com, select Book a Session, choose Start Booking, and search for Health Careers High School. Follow the prompts to select your session and appointment time. If you only need the yearbook portrait, choose the Basic Session option. After creating your account, select the School option to schedule your appointment.

Jack C Jordan Scholarship

We are still seeking applicants for the Jack C. Jordan Scholarship, which awards $1,250 to one high school senior from each NISD campus PTSA. To be eligible, students must be PTSA members and plan to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university in the summer or fall immediately following graduation. The application deadline is November 15 at midnight. See the flyer below for the submission form. You may also see Ms. Gonzalez for more information.

Messages of Gratitude

Sughra Askari, senior:

“I'm grateful for graduating this year so I can finally get rid of having such a packed schedule! (in school and at home..)”

Anonymous freshman:

“I'm grateful for the little sacrifices people make to make others happy. They really do add up.”

Giuliana Sarmiento, junior:

“I’m so grateful for all of my friends, especially my friend Cassandra B. Every single one of my friends has always been willing to listen to anything I have to talk about, even if I’ve talked about it a million times and it makes me feel more appreciated than they know. Love you guys!!!”

Jacelyn Guerrero, freshman

“I am grateful for every single friend that I have made at this school. Coming into a new high school at first seemed scary especially since I didn't know anyone, but within these few weeks I have met plenty of amazing people that I have become close friends with. I am incredibly grateful that I have met them and for our new friendships.”

Anonymous sophomore

“MR. CHU for being the kindest person in the world. Mr. Chu tam benignus est quam angelus.”
