Stacie Cruz is OCDE's Charter School Teacher of the Year!

Earlier this year, Stacie Cruz (Lit & Comp, CAH) and Terri Secrist (Math) were selected as OCSA's Teacher of the Year Nominees - two outstanding educators who represent all that is great about OCSA.

We are happy to report that Stacie has been selected as OCDE's Charter School Teacher of the Year Nominee, and in the running for Teacher of the Year amongst all educators in Orange County.

Congratulations Stacie for this honor and being the very best representation of what OCSA does!

Pat Williams brings in Hyper X!

Patrick Williams (Director of Digital Media) recently forged a partnership with Hyper X to establish the foundation of the growing Esports program at OCSA. Hyper X donated computer peripherals like keyboards, mouses and mouse pads, and headsets. OCSA students will now have access to cutting edge technology to aid them as they compete against other schools. Click here to read the official press release.

Lehmar Delivers in the Kitchen!

Chef Pete Lehmar has been rocking it in the kitchen with his diverse offerings for student lunches - poke bowls, jambalaya, chicken bowls, and breakfast burritos. Clearly his time spent at Gladstone's prior to OCSA has paid off!

Chef Pete is also preparing weekly dinner kits for Friday nights - complete meals for 4 that are prepped and packaged ready for pickup on Friday afternoons for staff to take home and simply reheat in the kitchen.

This week, Pete prepared swordfish over angel hair pasta, finished off with a fresh salad and rolls. Oh, and the huge chocolate chip cookies for dessert were delicious as well!

Be on the lookout soon for the weekly offerings coming out to see if you want to partake.

Administrivia is a landing place for you to know what is going on "inside OCSA." With the administrative team restructure that was announced last week, Administrivia will also be restructured to be the internal newsletter for all OCSA staff simultaneously so that as one school and one staff, you can be better informed about everything that you need to know in order to do your job effectively.

Is something great occurring in your classroom or within your rehearsal? Administrivia is not only a place to inform, but a place to celebrate. Administrators are always looking for more ways to celebrate the great things that are going on in OCSA classrooms. We don't always see everything, and you should not be shy about sharing!

Send your administrators and directors invites into your classrooms to show off your great work...it might even make it into this newsletter in the future!

OCSA School Calendar Update for 2021-2022

Each year, the Calendar Committee meets to review goods and betters of the current school calendar and bell schedule, and make recommendations for the upcoming school year. Last week at OCSA's Board of Trustees meeting, board members completed their "1st read" of the calendar, and will make their final approval at the February board meeting. Once the board has approved the school calendar, final revisions on bell schedules, professional development days, and conservatory instructional days will be completed.

Not Light, But Fire Book Study Continues this Friday - Academic/Elective Staff Meeting

This Friday at the Academic and Elective Staff meeting, our book study for Not Light But Fire will continue with Chapter 5. Although the meeting is for academic and elective teachers, all are welcome to attend!
