Are You In Love With Your Job?
February is known for hearts, reflection, and conversations about love, which makes it the perfect time to ask an important question. Are you truly in love with your job, or are you simply staying because it feels familiar and safe. Many professionals find themselves committed to roles that no longer energize them, even though they once did. Careers, like seasons of life, can change over time, and what once fit your goals may no longer align with where you are being led today. Feeling disconnected, undervalued, or stuck can quietly drain your confidence and motivation over time. This month is an invitation to pause, reflect, and honestly assess whether your work still supports the life you want to build. Sometimes the most loving choice you can make is giving yourself permission to explore what else might be possible.
All my best!

A Tough Year for Jobs: What 2025’s Numbers Signal for 2026
“2025 was the worst year for hiring since 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in an annual loss,” reported Megan Leonhardt of Barron’s. U.S. job growth slowed significantly last year, making it one of the most challenging environments for job seekers in recent history. Employers added roughly 50,000 jobs in December, consistent with the modest monthly pace seen throughout 2025. In total, only about 584,000 jobs were created for the year, a sharp contrast to prior years when opportunities felt more accessible.
Looking ahead to 2026, most economists are not forecasting a strong rebound in hiring. While a recession is not widely expected, employers are projected to remain cautious, which means job growth may continue at a slower pace. For professionals navigating career transitions, this likely translates into increased competition, fewer openings, and longer job searches within traditional employment. As a result, many are beginning to rethink what real stability looks like and where long-term control truly comes from. Business ownership is increasingly being explored as a way to create opportunity, diversify income, and build a future that is less dependent on hiring cycles.
If this resonates with you and you want to revisit a prior journey or continue the conversation, I invite you to reach out and let’s connect.
Job Hugging: The Hidden Cost of Playing It Safe
In times of economic uncertainty, many professionals respond by “job hugging,” holding tightly to their roles out of fear rather than fulfillment. History shows that during every major crisis, from the dot-com bust to the Great Recession, Covid-19, and today’s inflationary pressures, powerful corporations tend to emerge even stronger. Staff is reduced, costs are cut, and a growing share of profits flows to shareholders, while employees are asked to work longer and deliver more with fewer resources.
This dynamic helps explain why so many workers feel stuck. Today, 86 percent of American workers report working 50 or more hours each week while earning less, in real terms, than workers did decades ago. Trends like the Great Resignation, the Big Regret, and now the Great Detachment reveal a workforce torn between dissatisfaction and fear. Job hugging may preserve a paycheck, but it often limits growth, erodes engagement, and increases dependence on decisions employees cannot control.
For some professionals, this realization becomes a turning point. Rather than waiting for stability to return to the job market, they begin exploring business ownership as a way to build greater control, resilience, and long-term opportunity. Ownership is not about escaping work, but about participating in value creation instead of remaining vulnerable to the next corporate reset.
