Students are not required to wear their school uniform, and we look forward to everyone dressed up in their favorite outfits!
Broadway Blvd. Resurfacing This Week
Broadway Blvd. will be resurfaced this week, causing some traffic flow adjustments and parking restrictions. Though we don't expect this to affect 8 am arrival and 3:30 pm dismissal, there will be no parking on Broadway during the school day, so any late arrivals and early pickups will be considerably more difficult. Please plan on arriving and picking up on time to avoid construction traffic and lane closures.
Fall Fun Fest - Thursday, October 23rd
Get ready for an evening of fun and community! This year’s Fall Fun Fest will take place on Thursday, October 23rd from 6-7:30 pm in the school parking lot and playground. All families are warmly invited and encouraged to join the celebration!
We need your help to make the night a success! Volunteers are needed to host trunks, donate candy, and assist with setup and cleanup. Community partners and area businesses are invited to host trunks, as well, so please help spread the word. Sign up to help today!
September Board Meeting Summary
Here are some highlights from the September meeting of the Board of Directors:
- Prior to the meeting, members of the board attended the first portion of the Ice Cream Social and had a blast. Judge Bland won the adult rock-paper-scissors tournament!
- Our finances continue to be in a strong position.
- The board discussed the timeline for charter renewal with the Commission and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The current goal is to hold the charter renewal public hearing in conjunction with the February Board meeting.
- This year's Family Handbook, Board Policy Manual, and Employee Handbook were approved by the board. You can always view the Family Handbook and Policy Manual on the Handbook page of the website.
Members of the community are always welcome at monthly board meetings. Board meeting minutes and other materials are available on the Board Materials page of the website!
Residency Requirements for Re-Enrollment
Although it is seems far away, we want to make you aware of a change that will take place when it is time to re-enroll for the 2026-2027 school year in February. This year, in order to ensure that we are following the law by meeting residency requirements, families will need to provide one recent proof of residency (utility bill, lease, mortgage statement, property insurance receipt) that confirms their address is within KCPS boundaries.
As a reminder, our families complete re-enrollment each February to confirm their students' spots for the coming year. Your child's seat is guaranteed as long as you complete this re-enrollment between February 1st-28th. You can learn more by visiting the Re-Enrollment page of the website.
If you are considering moving sometime soon, please use the Find My District tool to ensure that you will continue to live within KCPS boundaries so that your child can continue to attend Citizens.
Also, if you do move during the school year, please reach out to Ms. Jamesetta with your new address and one proof of residency so that your address can be updated in the system.
Scholastic Book Fair - October 29th-30th
The Scholastic Book Fair is back this month! Families are encouraged to stop by the book fair while at school for family conferences on Wednesday, October 29th and Thursday, October 30th. A variety of books for all ages and other items will be available for purchase.
The book fair will be open for purchases during Family Conferences only, so please do not send money to school with your students.
We’re looking for volunteers to help make this event a success! Please consider signing up for a 2-hour shift during conferences to help our book fair run smoothly!
