Ravens SOAR Newsletter 9/2/26
Mr. Stowell, Ms. Hart and Mr. Murphy's Family Communicator
Principal Message
Day 1 is in the books, and I couldn’t be more proud of our strong start!
Our Ravens settled in quickly, finding their new classes, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and jumping right into the rhythm of the school year. Huge shoutout to our incredible staff who showed up and showed out today! Classrooms were vibrant and filled with first-day jitters, excitement, and all the feels. Kudos for hitting the ground running today!
We kicked things off today with a virtual assembly, 8th grade assembly, launched our SOAR Squads, and had some fun at lunch (which is FREE for all this year). Please see some pics below of some of this action.
I want to acknowledge how stressful this past week has been for all of us. With the teacher contract uncertainty now behind us, I’m grateful we can focus on being back in the building, settling into our routines, and center on what matters most, our students. It is an honor to lead with my team here at Eagle Staff. We are collectively building something special here, and we’re thrilled to partner with you as families as we take flight together into a new school year!
Happy back to school!
Go Ravens!

Class Schedule Information!
Requesting Classes and Elective Changes?
We kindly ask for your patience as we navigate this process. Once school is fully underway, we will provide information on how to submit schedule change requests. We will do our best to accommodate these requests, but please note that our priority will be resolving critical scheduling conflicts. After ensuring that all students have complete schedules, we will address individual change requests.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
RESMS CHOIR IS BACK!
Message From Director ROB!
Hello RESMS Chorus families!
Year three. I'm STOKED. 42 kids singing at McCaw Hall for the opening of Nutcracker, at Climate Pledge Arena for the Storm (twice!), at Ballard for the NW Region showcase, with the Ingraham choir, at three elementary schools in one day, and at 8th grade promotion, and all the other performances, too. Your kids crushed it. This year we're for sure going back to Nutcracker (confirmed, Black Friday), we're chasing more, bigger places to sing: Sounders, mariners, torrent & kraken game, and then there are some bigger ideas in the works that I definitely cannot pull off alone. More on that below.
TL;DR
- ACTION REQUIRED: fill out the 2026-27 sign up form, even if you filled one out last year
- First rehearsal: Friday, September 4, 4:00-5:15 PM
*Friday, September 4 assumes school starts on time. There's a possible teacher strike on the table. If it happens, we start the first Friday after school is back and I'll email. Either way, please fill out the form now. - Regular schedule: Mondays & Fridays, 4:00-5:15 PM, on the stage behind the auditorium. Dates (as of now!) are listed below.
- Nutcracker: Black Friday, November 27, McCaw Hall
- Winter concert: Thursday, December 10 (probably)
- I need a parent leadership team this year. (halp!)
Action required: the form
Please fill this out ASAP, returning families included. It's how I get contact info, conflicts, allergies, and photo permission in one place instead of 40 separate text threads. Takes about 5 minutes. If you know a kid who'd love this, send those parents the link too. No auditions to join, no cost, all skill levels.
Fall rehearsals
All rehearsals 4:00-5:15 PM on the stage unless noted. Pickup at the school entrance.
Here Is What SOARING Looks Like!
RESMS FALL SPORTS
Fall Sports: It's Time for Ravens Coed Ultimate and Girls Soccer!
The fall sports season kicks off soon after school begins. This year, we will offer Varsity, Junior Varsity (JV), and JVC teams for both Coed Ultimate and Girls Soccer, along with 6th Grade Ultimate teams. All fall sports seasons will run through late November.
We encourage all interested students to try out, regardless of experience or skill level. Students who identify as non-binary are also welcome to participate. If you would like guidance in selecting the team that is the best fit, please contact athletic coordinators Louis Eaglestaff leeaglestaff@seattleschools.org or James Flynn jbflynn@seattleschools.org
Important Requirements
Before participating in school athletics, all students must complete the following:
- FinalForms
Parents/guardians and students must complete and electronically sign all required forms through the FinalForms portal. - Physical Exam
