From The Principal
Happy New Year Hawkins,
I hope everyone had a great break and is ready for the new year. I had a great time with my family, as I had all three daughters together for the last time for a while. Unfortunately, the return to school has seen a huge uptick in the stomach viruses, hitting some classrooms hard as well as some our staff. Please make sure to keep your child home if they are experiencing any flu-like symptoms. This crazy weather has made it challenging as we rotate between rain, snow and mud, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Have a great weekend everyone!

News From The Nurse
This time of year, we typically see an increase in stomach flu activity. We have recently noted an uptick in cases at Hawkins. Please take a moment to review the information below and follow all recommended precautions to help reduce the spread of illness. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
- Symptoms: Vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and low-grade fever.
- Reminder: Encourage frequent handwashing to prevent spread. Check household cleaners, many do NOT kill norovirus. Virus is shed for up to 10 days. Persons infected should not handle food for others for 3 days post recovery.

Just-In-Case Clothes
Please make sure your child has an extra set of clothes in their backpack and/or locker in case of accidents or emergencies (i.e. bathroom accidents, playground mishaps, lunchroom spills, ripped or torn clothes, etc.).
