Deer Run Families,

Thank you for your continued support of our school community. Today, students enjoyed our second Taekwondo Day at Deer Run, and it was wonderful to see their excitement and engagement.

We are also looking forward to our upcoming School of Rock assembly next Friday. We extend a sincere thank you to our PTO for supporting these enriching experiences for our students.

This week, we began MAP testing, and we will continue with our middle-of-year assessments next week. We appreciate your partnership in helping students come prepared and confident as they complete these assessments.

Thank you for all you do to support Deer Run. We are grateful for our families and community.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Rising 6th Grade Parent Meeting at Grizzell

5th grade parents,

I wanted to reach out and give you a save the date for our rising 6th grade parent meeting at Grizzell Middle School. We will be inviting parents to Grizzell on Thursday January 29th, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in our gymnasium. At this meeting, you will learn about what your student's day will look like, course options, and some general information about the school as a whole. This meeting is not mandatory and if you are not able to attend, I will be sharing the presentation later that week. As always, we have a larger, more detailed presentation in early August where parents will meet with me and students will meet with their classroom teachers and walk their schedules.

Thank you and I'm looking forward to meeting some of our new parents on January 29th.

Andy Wilkinson

Dismissal Changes

In the event of an emergency and the need to change a student's dismissal method be sure to send an email to the classroom teacher AND the attendance email (Dres_attendance@dublinschools.net). Teachers are extremely busy during the school day, therefore, it is not guaranteed that the teacher would have time to review the parent email prior to dismissal. Be sure to submit changes as early as possible to increase the likelihood that the communication will be received by our school team prior to dismissal.

Student Car Drop Off and Pick Up

As a reminder, car drop off and pick up for all students should take place at the back door of the school. Last school year, students were being dropped off at Grizzell, in the school parking lot, and in the neighborhood adjacent to the school. We want to ensure that all of our students are safely dropped off at school, therefore only the backdoor area should be used. Also, we also want to be considerate of our neighbors that live in the homes adjacent to the school. Therefore, adhering to this guidelines is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Clarification Regarding Immunization Requirements
Recent updates from the CDC have led to questions about school immunization requirements. Dublin City Schools follows requirements set by the Ohio Department of Health, not CDC recommendations. At this time, Ohio has not adopted recent CDC changes related to certain vaccines. As a result, all current immunization requirements remain in place, including:

  • Meningococcal ACWY for students entering 7th and 12th grades, and

  • Hepatitis B for students across grade levels.

Families will be notified if Ohio requirements change. For more information, view our Immunization Requirements page or contact your school nurse.

Fifth Grade Families: Save the Date for Transition to Middle School Night
Each middle school will host a parent/guardian-only information night on January 29 from 6-7 pm. Principals and staff will share important information, including:

  • Daily schedules

  • School practices and procedures

  • Course scheduling details

Slides from the presentation will be available on each school's Transition to Middle School webpage for families unable to attend. More detailed information about scheduling will be sent to families via a special edition e-newsletter on Sunday, January 25.

Don’t miss Scioto’s production Suffs

Scioto Theatre presents Suffs, the acclaimed Broadway musical celebrating the young activists who fought for women’s right to vote. As one of only 12 schools nationwide awarded the prestigious Suffs: The Young Are at the Gate grant, Dublin Scioto will be among the first student groups to produce this powerful show as part of AP American Studies’ Immersive History Project—marking the programs’ seventh collaboration. Performances run January 23–25 at the Scioto Performing Arts Center, with tickets available at dshstd.booktix.com.
